Lunch at Howard Wharves (almost under the Story Bridge):

I had the ricotta. New dish for me, quite nice and light. Tarragon vinaigrette brought the dish together. Yum, was tempted to take the spare one sitting next to my colleague.

Again, the jus made the dish. Tried to get another bread roll to sop it all up.

Chicken vindaloo.

Good meal, nice family service. Only issue was the vindaloo was sweet, rather than hot and sour as it should be. Very strange.

Still, recommended.

Scallops
I could ask a certain question about this dish, but I don't want to start another flame war....

Lunch at the Sofitel today, including a guest speaker from London, who was happy to escape the cold.

This was visually more appealing and tasty. Glad I opted to sit at a seat that had it.

Can’t say I was enamored by this beef cheek. Had a very weird aftertaste and repeated on me during the afternoon. Would have preferred the salmon but didn’t know seatmate (who played Pokémon most of the presentation). 🤷‍♂️

Business lunch meeting at the Sofitel today:

Sadly, the server dropped 2 glasses of red wine on my colleague Terry, lucky for me my well positioned napkin (bottom right) saved my pants from wearing too much (got a couple of drops on my shirt and pants). Terry exited stage right and didn’t come back - instead got a train back to Gold Coast. I spoke to the event coordinator and we went to the events concierge. I sent Terry a copy of this photo above and all the names of the Sofitel staff he needed to organize the service recovery. He’s arranged for them to replace his shirt and pay for dry cleaning of his pants. He didn’t even get to eat his lamb (so I did once we knew he wasn’t coming back). Realized I hadn’t taken a photo of my steak.
