What the best seat(s) to choose in First class on A380?

Re: QF A380 - Favourite F Seat

So the general theme seems to be the A seats are better than the F & K from a traffic point of view. Why is row 1 not as preferable as 2 or 3? Someone mentioned additional privacy in row 1. How do the seats differ from other rows?

Row one is a little more private than the other rows because there is no 1F so 1A and 1K are further forward and have the bulkhead in front of them so give a more "enclosed" feel. The problem with row 1 is proximity to the toilets so there is a bit of foot traffic and pax and crew access cupboards at the front too.

As HVR stated in his post there are no bad seats. I'll always go for 2K or 3K because I think that they are a little more private. I can't say I have noticed more foot traffic when seated in 3K than when seated in 3A although logic would suggest otherwise.

Re: QF A380 - Favourite F Seat

Mostly I've been in 1A and it was fine. Once in 3A which was much the same as 1A far as I was concerned. Last time on an upgrade LAX-MEL I got put in 5K and that did have a bit of a noise transmission from galley locker doors being shut directly behind but not enough to concern me. I guess it depends on the pax and crew just how much noise is made rummaging in lockers etc.

Re: Best F couple seats A380

We sat in 2A and 3A last night SYD-SIN. Had only ever sat in 4K and 5K on one trip prior. I think I prefer the K side. Yes you need to share the aisle (with 8 other pax vs 4 for the A side) but you don't have the middle row facing you so I think it feels more private.

We have 1A and 2A on the next leg SIN-LHR and then back to 4K and 5K for LHR-SYD. Had to choose these two combos as we are traveling as a couple and find it easier to sit one in front of other versus across from each other.

I would prioritise A and K over centre row and then 2-4 over 1 and 5 if I had a choice. Centre row does not seem as private, has no electric window blinds to play with and doesn't have an overhead locker

Finally, there is no such thing as a bad F seat and with everything it is always a personal preference

Re: Best F couple seats A380

Have placed my folks in 2A & 3A and they thought it was great.

Was in 1A two weeks ago, and another AFF'er was in 3A.

Whilst not a couple - given the bubbly and chats we shared in both suites and the dine-together in 3A - we may as well be.

The FA assured us we weren't keeping everyone else awake - but the reality is as long as you are both on the same "side" of the aircraft you'll be fine :)

Re: QF A380 - Favourite F Seat

I'd take any at this rate. Only ever experienced domestic business...

Re: QF A380 - Favourite F Seat

I am flying 3A in May but at this stage I have no experience to speak about.

Re: QF A380 - Favourite F Seat

I've had 1A quite a few times but the jabbering FAs, toilet and cupboard were a little annoying, especially the fruity FA's that exuberantly burst through the curtain poring light right into my sleeping eyes.
Trying 2A this time and hoping for hushed environs.
I travel alone so A side for me. Less foot traffic as I'm a light sleeper.
I've also been in 5A and F on an upgrade, not too bad, but some noise from the galley and cattle behind ;)

I'm well aware of my first world problems ;)

Re: QF A380 - Favourite F Seat

2A and 3A are my fav. Never flown F with my wife as we always fly J together so never been on the other side of the cabin.

You can see from Tony's pic the cupboard next to 1K - same at 1A. They store some of the mattresses and duvets here, so if you go to sleep early, they are coming back and forth to this cupboard to get the sleeping stuff for others while you are kipping next to it. And the curtain and then the toilet is to the immediate right.

In any class, in any cabin, seats more towards the middle will get less passing traffic and less noise from toilets, galleys etc than seats at the ends. Whether that's a problem for a pax I guess depends on their depth of sleep / noisiness of the FAs etc. Jeez, that reminds me - once on EK in J next to a bulkhead, I had to ask a FA three times (politely, of course!) if she might make her conversation a bit quieter during the night. Not quite shrieking, but not close to sotto voce either! I got daggers for the rest of the trip :-|

Re: QF A380 - Favourite F Seat

I've sat in 1A, 5A, 1K, 5K and this week was in 3K.
I much prefer the A side as I find there seems to be a lot less foot traffic. My sleep was pretty disturbed on the last flight due to what sounded like herds of elephants walking up and down the aisle, the floor shook and so did my suite and bed every time someone walked past. I went to sleep early but was wakened several times by the shaking floor and overhead lockers being shut after duvets were removed from them. I hadn't noticed the floor shaking before on any flight so that may have been an anomaly.
I'd still take any seat in F over any other section of the aircraft though ;)

Re: QF A380 - Favourite F Seat

I like 1A or 1K however, thats on a 747 :( On the A380 - single traveller....anywhere between 1A & 5A......as a couple anywhere between 1K & 5K.

What do you see as a benefit to a couple in being on the K side? You are still separated by an aisle, so it seemed to me that it was better to just go for the quieter a seats and get up and have a chat if needed. I have to admit after 34 years together and multiple hours talking in the lounge we are just as happy to settle into our own space on the plane:)

Singles seem to covert the A side:D

I've often noticed the floor shaking (not the earth moving :p) when a a heavy/fast-stepping person goes by so it's not the big bird falling apart PF . +1 on the last sentence ;).

Re: QF A380 - Favourite F Seat

Iv only sat in 3A but i really liked that seat. Nicely in the middle of the cabin and private enough for me

Re: QF A380 - Favourite F Seat

My husband and always had 3a & 4a, until a flight where my husband had 5a and preferred it to 3a. His reason was due to it being a seat for a passenger with a baby, he has a shelf to put "his stuff". Noise from the galley is never a problem for either of us.
I have also sat in a centre aisle seat once on and found I was at the mercy of the FA as to when they raised the central privacy screen after take off.
Also 1F is directly under the staircase and has been the only seat that I wouldn't want to book.

Re: QF A380 - Favourite F Seat

I'm prepared to carry out a study on this. All I need is some corporate funding.
