What the best seat(s) to choose in First class on A380?

My favourite seat is 2A by far. 1A is too close to the wardrobe, 3A is also very good but a bit far back, 4A again is a bit too far back. I really dislike row 5 since you do get a lot of noise from behind you. Luckily, they never allocate it to paid F tickets :D

I imagine you don't regard a FASA as a paid F ticket, however I've chosen 5K because I like the privacy

I get annoyed by the light from the constant curtain opening and cupboard use in 1A, but loved 2A, 3A & 4A as a single traveller.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and feedback. Interesting to hear the different considerations.

Yes I am looking forward to my first experience in First, and so picking 'the best' seat is part of making this a great experience all-round for me.

Apart from my main concern about the possible infant in 5A, I had noted earlier comments of the amount of potential foot traffic on the A side v. F/K side, though I noticed that F faces away from K, but looks at A until the screen is put up. I noted that someone posted that on their flight, the F screen was broken, but I'm gonna guess that you'd have to be fairly unlucky for this to occur...? (Have others experienced this with any regular occurrence?)

At the moment, I'm tending to stick with 2A. I appreciate the experience of all those 'who have gone before me'.

I'm sure I've chimed in before on this one but I'll put another vote in for 5K which I always preselect at the time of buying the ticket.

I've done 5A (with baby in tow) and found myself being disturbed by the FAs accessing the closet adjacent to that seat.

I prefer the back of the cabin as I find the FAs walking past to service the other 8 seats down that row are less disturbing than sitting in row 1 and having other passengers walk past on their way to the toilet / lounge etc. If I'm up working during the flight I find that the crew seem to be more social when you're closer to the galley (obviously as they don't want to stand and chat at the front of the cabin), and I quite enjoy that aspect of the flight.

My general objection to the A seats is that the F seats look across that way, so when the privacy screens are down that side of the aircraft feels more exposed. In 5K there's nobody on your immediate left (5F is slightly further forward) and even then the middle seats are facing the opposite direction so the K side feels more private to me.

Edit: Oh and I almost forgot - the time it takes for the crew to notice an empty wine glass and refill it seem significantly shorter in 5K than 1A...

Definitely first-world problems - but noted, nevertheless .

5K is the only K seat I haven't tried so I'll give it a go in October.

I share your objection on the A seats, it is not just when the screens are down either, there are gaps at each end of the screens when they are up.

I flew 1A back from LAX in June. Had no issues with noise or being disturbed. There is so little foot traffic in the F cabin, IMHO, I really don't think it matters all that much.

I enjoy the fact that this thread is going strong after four and half years despite the general consensus that there is no bad F seat on the A380. Would also very much love to experience the worst of a good lot... one day.

Slightly different spin - flying the Big Bird to HKG in May next year, quickly jumped 1A for the DYKWIA factor, but reconsidering. Thinking what would be the most social seat in the F cabin? I wouldn't be adverse to the idea of making a rich friend. Otherwise I'll probably jump into 3A...don't like the idea of people opening the compartment above my head.

In reality, F is the cabin that provides the least chance to be social in the bird. You are simply cocooned too much and separated too far from others to be able to chat over your pre-dinner Comtes de Champagne (or two...) and degustation dinner :). Unless, of course, you invite someone over to sit on the stool at the other side of your table (or vice-versa). But I've never seen that happen, even with a couple travelling together, but others' MMV.

Save my gossiping until the flight back I guess. Need to check the menu for the degustation though as I'm allergic to eggs which could cut the number of courses, but increase the amount of wine...

I am trying to remember the tasting menu but I didn't look at it that closely, as I can't eat that much food.....I have the feeling that the only egg involved would have been the upside down cake, but you can easily replace that with ice cream. Of course it could all change by next year! Definitely no opportunity for gossiping - although I did find on the window side I could stand up and talk to Mr FM over the back of the chair as it is lower there rather than going to his seat ( he was in 3a and I was in 2A). Also after comments here I did take notice of whether the A side felt less private but it didn't appear that way to me. The privacy screens were up and I felt totally private. Also once you take off and swivel your chair, you are turned away from the aisle and in your own little world, so I decided that the A side would continue to do for me. :)
