Where will you be on NYE?

This will be my first NYE in Sydney in years.

There's some discussion of doing something with friends, but no plans have been confirmed yet. Alternatively I might just chill at home.

I don't deal with crowds very well, so if I'm at home I might just walk down to the park at the end of my street and see what view of the fireworks I can get.

Here's the view from the park taken on one of my regular morning walks:

we are having a rooftop party as always happens in our block. there are 3 apartments empty at the moment - that may leave some space for those in Sydney with no plans. We have a nice view of the city, bridge, luna park and obscured view of the opera house (bridge in the way) we don't get to see the Kirribilli fire works as the Zurich Building (I think) in North Sydney gets in the way.... I had about 20 people last year 14 were family. No family this year.
All my guests are bringing a plate of food and drinks and you can stand around without having to camp all day from a decent uncrowded spot.
There are port-a-loos in the park downstairs. I have one in my flat obviously but with a cat I don't want her to escape when the door opens if a few people wanted to join us.

In Toowoomba with my wife at her parents place. Being a Melbourne person I'm loving the sunshine and the pool!

There is talk that we will be going out for dinner but I would be just as happy staying at home and having a few quiet beers!

From the complete lack of FF's who are flying I'm hoping my two flights will be quiet ones! The expert flyer stats seem to indicate they will be.

Swanky black tie event (€400 pp) at the Hotel Arts Ritz Carlton in BCN. Michelin star dinner followed by an open bar in the Salon Gaudi on the 41st floor.

Happy New Year to all on AFF, wherever you may be.

I've upgraded from champers on the verandah to a degustation dinner at a well known country pub. Includes a lift to and from the venue as well :D

BBQ with our 30 closest friends, at our place. I just finished shopping for it and instead I should've purchased two Y tickets to AKL on the EKA380 service instead :p.

Called Oneworldplus2 for advice and we are trying Thomas Dux for the first time for finger food in Sydney with their platters.
If that works we can move onto the drinks.......

Mangawhai, a beach north of Auckland, at the NZ family holiday cottage. Well that was the plan except my 83 year old mother tripped this afternoon, put her hand down and split the skin around her little finger. Nothing broken but now has 8 stitches and a very bruised hand. So will assess tomorrow morning whether she is ok in Auckland alone for a couple of nights. I have an idea she will tell us to go north for NYE.

Probably go to a house party in Perth and try to keep cool (and hydrated!!) from the run of high 30s-low 40s we've been having the last week...

Should be fun hopefully...

Lets see now ... NYE will be spent waterproofing a shower/toilet room - assuming I get the Villaboard in place before then. Evening will be spent at home with an unknown number of friends joining us for a BBQ and swim. NY day will be spend continuing the renovation activities from wherever I get up to when BBQ duties call.

We had this problem last year. I planned the event from about July and picked up things as time went on for it... when I stopped and tallied everything up we could have gone to HNL so this year is low key, next year either an event or overseas but I'm not spending that cash on staying home again.

Well I'm currently on an adventure tour. We are supposed to travel from Mexico to Belize on NYE and be on Caye Caulker and island of the coast in the Caribbean.

It's supposed to be a party place all year long so I will see how it is at NYE, that's assuming no problems with border crossing during the day :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR AFF MEMBERS

Living in Cairns makes it easy but not getting a cab home on this one night, so what to do NYE was asked by the good woman this morning, now with another couple booked into waterfront at Sebel Reef House Palm Cove (30mins drive), taking a feast inc. seafood and wine for dinner with us to enjoy with our friends on the balcony overlooking the water, I mean really, someone has to do it :)
