Comair, which operates British Airways flights in South Africa and owns Kulula, has been placed into voluntary "business rescue". The airline has not been able to operate any passenger flights since 26 March, and may remain grounded for months.

Meanwhile, South African Airways, the country's other main airline, is unlikely to survive after the government withdrew funding a few weeks ago.


Comair is one of the only airlines in the world that has been consistently profitable for decades. It just shows that no airline is immune from the current crisis.

I've flown Comair a few times and found them to be good. I hope they are able to come out of this crisis in good shape.
 
Lufthansa is negotiating a stabilisation package for 9 billion euros with the Federal Economic Stabilisation Fund (Wirtschaftsstabilisierungsfonds - WSF) to finance the Lufthansa Group. The negotiations and the process of political decision-making are still ongoing. (Airline Geeks 12/5/20)

I thought VA was bigger than that...
The same goes for VS. With the way they act, I had thought they were at least half the size of BA only to find that VS had 35 aircraft and 30 destinations compared to 278/183 for BA.
Virgin Australia Holdings has 132 aircraft across mainline, regional and TT, while Qantas Group have 292 across mainline, link and JQ (+53 more at the other Jetstar franchises).
