I should get WP in my first year in the QFF programme, fully self funded. Of course I should have joined a long time ago...

SG is locked in the bag, will get that on Monday.

Next year I'll fly some more, in 2014 I'd be happy not to set foot in an aeroplane.

My next question is how do you guys have so much spare time? Lol
Had my own business with a wonderful manager who could run things in my absence. Now 80% retired and with ipad and internet banking can run it from anywhere :)

Hi Flying Mermaid obviously you are smart enough not to be a "control freak" and look over people's shoulders too much . !!

I am actually quite a control freak (or so my kids tell me). However I did learn that if you have good staff, the more you empower them and allow them to feel "ownership" of the business, the happier they will be and the better they will perform. Another consequence of this was that my staff stayed with me for a very long time - in an industry where turnover is huge I had one person with me for nearly 20 years and another for 12 at the time I closed the business.

I have to put my hand up as well. All of my QF SCs are from self-funded travel. While I don't get public holidays, I get 7 weeks of annual leaves, and being based in SIN and quite like both HKG and Taiwan as destinations, the CX I-class runs served me well. Should be WP in about 3 weeks.

All of my travel is self-funded and for the past 18 months has only been for leisure. Before that I travelled for business (my own) as well as leisure.

Almost all of mine are self-fundedand my status with 3 different programmes are all hard-earned. :)

I do both, however, if considering only leisure travel, my status would be unchanged.

People who don't travel for work are pretty lucky

I've spent four of the six last years as QF PS and one as SG, almost all from personal travel. I've had three work trips in that time (long haul), but it's BFOD Y, and only one if the three has been on a carrier which helped me get higher status. The other two were in SQ in fare buckets that don't earn much elsewhere.

The only travel I do for work involves driving around country VIC and southern NSW. So yes, my FF status is all personal.

My only work travel is booking other peoples around the world J tickets. I've got some upcoming travel for my own business, but everything else is leisure and self-funded.

My QF WP status is all from my personal leisure travel as work is just NZ domestic (no JQ allowed).
As I have just changed roles my NZ status will disappear to Jade....:-|

Depends how you look at it.

I would love to travel for work in business/first and stay in 5 star hotels.

Mine ebbs and flows depending on postings. Currently swmbo and I are both self funded SG

Mine is all leisure or family related. My daughter who feels deprived if she hasn't travelled for 10 weeks also has WP - all leisure related after some careful planning - and my son does the same. But after all It is all about personal priorities. I had been SG for many years then stopped travelling - but following a trip to the USA I soon remembered what the difference between travelling with and without status meant - I came to the conclusion I needed a bit more luxury (at a price I could afford) so do my best to keep status up.
