Woolworths backflips - QF points are coming back

In my case the current balance is in WW¢ not WW$, and I guess that is where BAM is coming from. I have some items that I can only buy at Woolies, not Coles, and so I still shop there occasionally. But none of these has ever had an orange sticker, so no WW$ earn. I am starting from a very low base, and perhaps BAM1748 even lower.

The existing balance doesn't really make any difference moving onto the new system. I've stopped scanning my EDR card altogether, and we've put it all onto SWMBO's card. (i.e. I've had a balance of $8 for months). The only time I scan my card is for the catalog WW$ offers that we seem to get regularly at our woolies. Those are generally spend $100, scan the catalog and get WW$10. When those come out we just split the shop and both get the WW$10. Then I scan on the next shop to get the discount.

Anyway, new system you'll earn on every dollar spent, which will get me scanning again.

My friend went shopping this morning and the Woolworths points and other details are already showing on her account. This means WR are faster than flybuys for showing base points. She didn't buy any fresh products so I can't advise yet whether bonus points will get credited as quickly as the base points.

They do (I bought a few bananas this morning).

If the Coles FB specials continue (and can be converted to cash discounts) Woolies will get the shop for specials and things we can only buy there...

Happy wandering

Fred

I received an email from Qantas about an hour ago mentioning that the new Woolworths programme is starting today.

It also mentions a competition to celebrate:
"We're sending seven lucky Frequent Flyers and ten of their friends (that's a party of 77 guests) to Hamilton Island, in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, for a VIP escape. The prize includes two nights' accommodation, a cruise to world-famous Whitehaven Beach and a beachside dinner on one evening."

Each Qantas Point that's converted on 15 December 2016 earns one entry in the draw.

I don't think they'd send my 10 friends from North America to Hamilton Island though.
I guess there is a disclaimer saying Woolworths staff not eligible.

Total insanity and entirely defeats the purpose of having QF points as the reward inducement.
I know. No reason they need to do that. The system is capable of transferring the 870 QFF points every time the 2000 WoW points/W$10 comes up.

I haven't bothered to opt-in to QFF points. Spend about $200/week so should accumulate 10,000 Woolworths points or 4,350 QFF points / year.

So essentially enough for a one-way award SYD-BKK in economy + $160 fuel surcharges after close to 7 years? The one-way airfare can be as low as $300. No thanks. Don't need to stockpile QFF points. The cash discount is more desirable.

This strategy may well change if Woolworths points are somehow accumulated quicker.

Just changed mine over to QFF points.
It says I have just over 1200 accumulated points.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

WW did have a good loyalty call centre before they changed/outsourced that.

After the changeover I had problems with points crediting, especially in relation to Cellarmasters bonus points before the change over to Itchy and Scratchy money.

Just remember if you access the readily available 5% discount on WW Gift Cards (& eGift Cards) you're spending $1900 for the 870 points A slightly better conversion.

I switched to getting Qff points.
But i don't know if it's worth my effort to carry the card once again.
After all this time i still only have 80 cents.
With the average shop for me being maybe $80 or $100 if I push it with some impose buys every 2 or 3 weeks it will be at least a year before I can get anything.

Take into account times when im away and that pushed my times between shops out even more.

This hasn't won me over or back yet.

Are we sure that the issue isn't QF giving Wow a bad rate hence the terrible conversion?
Or is it likely Wow not wanting to pay much for their terrible scheme.

Bit of both. WOW were pretty clear they thought the old scheme was costing them too much, so it was never going to come back in its original form. From what I have heard, QFF were pretty tough to negotiate with so Woolworths walked away. That would have been ok, had they not come up with a crock of a program to replace it with.

Sdtravel, what you have to remember is that when you spend any $1.00 at Woolworths, BWS, or Woolworths petrol you get one Woolworths point. That point is worth half a cent. This is the same value as in Flybuys.
You can exchange 2000 Woolworths points for 870 Qantas points. That implies QFF are giving Woolworths a rate of 1.149 cents per Qantas point. That doesn't seem unreasonable.

This new system isn't good for expats who only come back once or twice a year. Will take a couple of years to accumulate 2000.

Whereas we can all agree that the WOW marketing team is pretty woeful, I don't think it is too unreasonable that their scheme does not cater for expats.

Would a picture of me in Hi Vis telling you about it help? :p
So much for getting staff to wear stickers.
How many customers have made a link between the hi vis vests and the rewards program?
