Woolworths backflips - QF points are coming back

The points are based on a conversion rate of $10 WWD equals 870 points. The amount of points offered depends on the target spend. The points amounts have been increasing when the target spend goes up. There is a huge variety of offers. I haven't put them all together yet and worked out what the percentage yield is (using the WWD amounts as a baseline). I'll need to track data in three different threads in order to figure out the sweet spot on the dollars spent versus dollars earned. Looking at things, it appears if you compare the old EDR points offers to the new WR points offers, there are more points being offered now per dollar spent than there were in the previous program. What's your target spend for the 2175 points? I'm guessing it's around the $200 mark.

Only if you get bonus points offers for every shop.

I wasn't sure how to word the above post clearly.

I am looking at targeted offers only, not the base amount of QFF points which used to be paid.

I was hoping that the offers would end up being spread across all our family accounts. At this rate every member will get an offer in the next round and I won't be able to take all of them off. I was hoping that each week at least one member would receive an offer. I'll do the percentage analysis soon.

Best to check the fine print. Opal may or may not be excluded.

Opal used to count towards offer targets despite being excluded in the t&c but late last year WW finally fixed that loophole. Previously if you had an offer of spend 60 for 250 points, you could just top up $60 of Opal to receive the 250 plus 30 points for spend over $30. After the 'fix' you only received 30 points.

I have shopped at the same Woolworths store for most of the last 10 years but not much since the new ED rewards was announced. So no QF points offer for me. How do Woolies think they will win back customers who have dared to shop elsewhere (and find that the Flybuys scheme is not that bad)?

Mobile phone recharges have now also been excluded which also used to be an easy way to make the target spend if on prepaid.

With the new way of specifically selecting WW dollars or QF points, WW will be getting real world data on how popular QF points actually are. All the surveys in the world are fine but this will certainly get a true reading of the shopping public. Now the actual cost of the QF points is clear for everyone to see (1.15c/pt), I think people on AFF will be surprised how low the take up of the QF points will be (I am guessing 10-15%).

Even with just short of 1M QF points in my account, I almost took the cash option and may do in the future. Those with points balances under 50k and do not fly alot should definitely take the cash option. J long haul international is the only place to spend points and you are going to need at least ~200k (~400k for a couple) to get a decent return on investment.

While I generally agree with your closing statement, it is not quite that black & white as WOW has offered different earning ratios.

ie I was (fortunately) offered 36.5 QFF points per $ spent vs an 18% discount and so I was never going to take the cash discount. Many others were offered much less per $ spent.

IMO as I originally posted this whole exercise is marketing testing by WOW on the attractiveness of QFF points over cash and they are testing in variuous ways such as the:
* How attractive= different ponts per 4 spent
* Barrier = how much has to be be spend in a week to gain the points. Looks like it ranges from under $100 to over $300.
* Change of mind = same offer two weeks running to see if people swap and/or to see if thse with a higher barrier

Hopefully the outcome will be new point offers down the track for those of us who find "attractive" points offers to be of advantage to us, rather than just $$$ offers (with perhaps a token trade in on $$$$ earnt). This would cater for the actual "Frequent Flyers" or more correctly "Frequent Award Flyers".

However we "FAFs" are in the minority of WOW shoppers with most of their WOW reward members being more aspirational flyers than actual redeemers of points for flying. With the program having run for the time it has with these 'aspirational" flyers the reality of not building balances high enough to redeem flights has probably hit home and so the ability of Point Offers to change behaviour was probably dropping off markedly. So like you I strongly suspect the vast majoty of Reward Members will take the cash.

WOW is big enough that it can tailor offers, and even run the choice of points v cash in many promos. For example they have done similar throughout with the fuel offers when one has been offered choice over points v greater fuel discount as well as cash discount vs points. So I am hoping that this market testing will leed to more offers in the futures for us FAFs.

Wonder if those who raced off to Coles are coming back now the QFF points offers are back?

Decent offer on my account of $20 discount or 1,740 QFF points on $125 spend.

With no offers yet, I certainly won't be running back.

Now that WW seem to be coming to their senses I have resubscribed to their emails. I will be comparing the two programs closely.

Did a shop yesterday and on the bottom of my docket it said, (I havent got the correct phrase) you are on your way to earning QFF points only $21.35 to go. (my spend was $135).
And to top it off I will also get $10 off my next shop, as I reached $10 worth of WW$, thanks to a gifting $5 bonus from WW.
So all in all a good day of shopping.

That's precisely what I have done.
Re subscribing required a phone call might I add.
