WP treatment in Y

Relax. Don't get so excited. If you read the post that you quoted more carefully you would understand that I was complimenting QF for offering champagne to WPs flying Y. It's a small gesture QF started (I never saw pax help themselves to drinks from J) and it's a much cheaper way to show some extra care to WPs compared to offering a full upgrade to J.
TBH you sound like a frustrated ex cabin crew to me.

yes I am ex cabin crew...(which is why I can see both sides to a coin)....and trust me...im not the 'frustrated' one here!!!

Believe it or not I feel somewhat embarassed with the attention (especially the time I was op-upped to premium economy and had 3 CSMs come around to pay me a visit) and wonder what the people around me are thinking.

Three CSMs? On the same flight? #poeticlicence

Maybe you meant a CSM, a CSS and another FA? Very VERY unlikely that you'd have more than one CSM working the same flight unless there was some kind of rostering/positioning reason.

I would need to look back and find my post.

Full A380, upgrade to premium economy upper deck. Not all CSM's? Definitely not FA's. Perhaps my recollection is clouded.

Usually in Y or Y+ you'd only get a WP greeting from the CSS as they "manage" the Y and Y+ cabins. CSM has overall responsibility for all cabins, but only usually does the greetings in J and F.

BFAs can sometimes assist in Y+ if J is not full, but this wouldn't usually be the case. I'm guessing you've had the CSM, CSS and probably just a normal FA say hi.

Yes, QF. But the great majority of our flights originate in Melbourne, so perhaps the Sydney Check In service is different and I've simply not noticed on the rare occasions that we have checked in there in recent times?
Can comment only on my own experience, of course, but certainly no Inbound EPs from the Melbourne F desk - for us, anyway, as Plat 1. (Then again, as I said earlier, it doesn't matter to me.:))
Perhaps if you don't have a SmartGate friendly passport and you ask at MEL Check In, they could be available? Worth a try.

In the past 5-6 occasions I have always got the arrival EP at Sydney F checkin. I then always have been given another one on the flight back, during the usual WP greeting (always happened).

Do you think as a WP, I would be pushing it asking for a Y+ blanket in Y? I'm going to be on an A380 in the upper deck economy and have heard tales of freezing conditions on board

exactly... although given what people ask for you would think those premium items are what makes them feel special.

seriously - why do so many platinums ask for premium amenities (alcohol, headphones, PJs, amenity kits)?

The only thing I have ever asked for was a particular meal from the menu as I couldn't eat one of the two choices. CSM was happy to arrange and there was no possibility that 'refusal could offend'.

".... If you need anything, please let us know....."

I just smiled and said 'thank you'.

It is just me and you are free to decide what is best for you.

I pay for Y, PE and I only hope to score a bulkhead or exit row and no crying babies.

Anything else is just sweet extra(s).

Tomorrow flight: no points upgrade. Just go with the flow, no grunting from me.

Champaign, headphones, PJ etc.... never asked.

Feel like it is 'cabin creeping' by stealth.

Again, it is my personal choice and you are free to disagree.

I have found A330 crew to be more willing to gift amenity kit/pyjamas than A380 crew for some reason.

I didn't find the UD that cold to be honest with you.

Boy Scout mode (be prepared) and if asking for Y+blankly fails you're still boss man all warm and cozy.

Good for you.

On the odd occasion I have asked for and received PJs (saves me carrying old ones) amenity kit (the products are useful) and champagne (well do I really need to explain that one). Has never been an issue. I always ask very politely and don't blurt it out at the top of lungs and am prepared for refusal. But no harm in asking. It's not like I asked for the Ralph Fiennes experience.

Come to think of it, were I to forget packing my PJ or my NC headphone, I might ask for it.

Politely, in a low voice and prepared for a negative outcome.

We could always forget things - by accident.

But planned to ask for J headphone, I have not done so and am not going to do it.

The act is the same - asking, but the intention is different - planned vs accidental.

But so far I have not forgotten those things yet.

First time that I have encountered, on a BNE-SYD afternoon flight, the lovely CSM came through and personally greeted those in the first row of Y and asked if there was anything they could do.

Unfortunately this was at the top of descent; but I'm sure the it's the thought that counts!

These mythical J NC headphones I keep reading about. Are they on domestic too? Coz I've never seen them, not unless they look identical to the cheap non-J non-NC headphones.
