I have booked a A$99, NZ$113, stay online for the Auckland Hilton in September.

Would be interesting to see if it posts as a valid stay. I don't expect it will but you never know....

Mine have, in the past.

Booked directly with the Hotel early last year for last November, it did post, but no stay/night credit nor HHonors points.

In 1995 ago a use booked with the hotel actually did post as a stay with points.

YMMV.

Booked online it should post as per the T&C. I'm considering a stay in late August. It's already booked on line (NZD113) if I do use it, I'll report back.

G'day everyone, hoping to get some inside advice.

I will be spending 7 nights in Auckland between 30/8 and 7/9. Preferably in the city.

I'm trying to figure out which "programme" will get me the best value - hiltonpremiumclub, Starwood privilege, Priority Privilege etc etc etc.

It is difficult for me to check the prices or availability unless it's through a "member" channel...so it's a catch 22 for me.

I've been looking at the hilton premoum club thing for a while...anyone know if the offers for Aug/Spetember are out yet, and whether Auckland's Hilton is on special for members?

Thanks in advance.

BenHadi

I don't know about special offers but I managed to book a room at the Auckland Hilton in September using the HPC $99 stay certificate. I think the cheapest room on that day was NZ$330 when I made the booking.

2 quick Qs about the $99 stay card that comes with the package:-
1) Can I give the card for someone else to use?
2) Does it count as a stay?
Booked directly with the Hotel early last year for last November, it did post, but no stay/night credit nor HHonors points.
To answer my 2 Qs above: You need to be an active Hilton premium member to use the $99 stay card as they ask to see your membership card when you hand in the $99 stay card...so you can only give the $99 stay card to an actual member.

The $99 stay posted but I did not get any points / stay credit like serfty above. I filed a missing point / stay request online, stating that I had booked the room online, and felt that I was entitled to points / stay credit, and lo behold, this was credited to my account within 2-3 days. Need only 1 more stay with the Hilton racing promotion to get back to Hilton Gold:mrgreen:

benhadi,

In addition to the above:
As a HPC member you get 20% off the poblished rates at all Hilton properties in OZ, NZ and Fiji.
As a HPC member you get one $99 card per year of membership.

......... & for what it's worth I've always had the points credited (bar once about 5 years ago) for credited for the $99 etc stays even though they are, theoretically ineligible stays.

Hi Bill
Just finished reading all the trouble you went to for all of us, thank you.
Bill, did I read in there did we have to quote the user group when doing a booking ? or was that to sort out anything if the user ack was incomplete (ours fine as you no doubt saw to it.) Thankk you again. Regards Andrew.

ANDREW,

I've never quoted the user group and this is the first I've heard of it so I believe not.

For what it's worth I always book online via the web site and it's always worked. I suppose you need to phone if you wish to use the prepayed rate though.

Not at all, simply book online as normal, putting your HPC # in the comments.

Sometimes they miss this and take the full amount anyway; easily rectified on checkout ...

Now is probably a good time to publicly advise that two of the HPC memberships were never paid for by the requester. :( So effectively I'm out of pocket by two lots of payment. :p

Having said that I rationalize that the poster has not been posting on AFF and I have several extra lots of $99 cards available for my use and use them I will.

I really would have preferred the money though :!:

That is a bit low. I would not let them get away with it. Don't you have their address when you sent the kits to them. Is there any chance you can call HPC and cancel the membership? Why should you be out of pocket because some low life did not pay and is now taking advantage of the benefits. And no I don't think there is a good enough excuse as the rest of us paid around 6 months ago.

I guess you don't want to publicly post who the person is but is there any chance you can let us know offline so that we do not fall into the same trap in the future....

Good Morning JohnK,

I still have the kits so not all is lost. Hence my comment that I have extra $99 cards. The individual has not responded to any contact at this time so not a lot can be done. I've discussed this with a moderator and we felt that it was inappropriate to publicly name her OR ban her from the site as that would serve no value and she would just walk away.

You have a PM.

Thanks Bill. I hope things out for you and you can recover the value of the extra membership from the $99 cards.

Is there anyone else on AFF interested in the unclaimed membership? Are you locked into a specific name or can the membership be changed to another name if you got into contact with HPC?

The thought had occurred to me also - as one who just narrowly missed out on the last batch. (Although I guess the membership clock started ticking when they were sent to Bill.)

Richard.

Theoretically the names cannot be changed. Having said that I am in the process of enquiring from HPC to see if these two can be changed due circumstances. I will get back to rwatts & acdc to see if we can work something out as soon as I get a definitive answer.

These memberships are still valid for 1 yr and 9 months and are still very cheap compared to purchasing individual memberships.

I suppose I could be nasty and mention the company these people come from :!: It's interesting that I actually have a use for the type of services they provide but it won't be happening.

Along the lines of premium club - does this card give you access to exec floor lounge ? / breakfast or is that only HH diamond/gold. Rgds Andrew

The HPC provides discounted accommodation, food, etc. at participating hotels.

HHonors Gold/Diamond are a separate issue.
