Only been to KL. Nice hotel next to Sentral station, so very easy access from Airport. Not too bad access wise around KL. Was treated well as a Silver Hilton HH at the time (although, they managed the unusual task of adding someone else's HH number to my booking and then moving their details across as well during my stay (same surname, different first name), and adding a KitKat to my minibar bill (which I had removed easily).

I have often wondered what it is with hotels and random appearances of minibar items on ones bill. Seems to happen a lot (at all the chains).

Stayed at the Columbo Residences Aug '06; upgraded as a HHG to top floor executive suite (Actually a 3 B-room apartment) it's a bit out of the way, but I found it quite comfortable.

More of a place you would stay a week or two for business.

Very Very Quite in the hotel.

NM has stayed there quite a bit IIRC, and I know it's been mentioned in another couple of posts. Very nice lounge if you get access. Great food selection at night. I was last there 2 years ago, so things may have changed.
indeed I have stayed at the KL Hilton many times. Good points include a wonderful lounge with fantastic breakfast and evening drinks/nibbles. It has great access to/from the airport (right at KL Sentral) and if departing with MH or CX you can check-in at KL Sentral which makes life easy.

KL Sentral is on the Putra LRT line and the Monorail is short walk across the road.

The rooms are all modern with good facilities.

The down side is that there is little else within an easy walking distance. So if you want to go out for dinner you are going to taking the train, monorail or a teksi.

The following (in no particular order) have expressed interest in joining the HPC group.

straitman, blankman, ANDREW, drron, futaris, One9, Mal, kpc, JohnK, Skoogle, serfty, Ozstamps, nagelixin, Bizibb & Neil (non AFF)

This means we now have 14 or 15 individuals so the cost has dropped to approx $180 - $185 including postage.

I’m sending an email to everyone I believe is ‘in’ so if I’ve missed someone or something or you don’t get an email please yell loudly.

Thanks for the great work on this Straitman, and the large and appreciated savings.

Sorry been in Burma and the Junta generals there have a habit (honest) of totally shutting down internet for days at a time with no notice!

That's where they HAVE INTERNET which at places like Inle Lake for 3 days there is none. :D

I've only just found this thread. I've been an HPC member for the past two years and not once ever used a benefit. Just never been able to match availability with my travel.

My membership is about to expire but I am thinking about going around one more time. What do I have to do to join this soire?

You have a PM.

So with the 2 late additions does this mean we are up to 16 or 17 individuals.

I asked this question in the email I sent you but may be worth posting here as well. Does our membership begin and then expire 2 years after we activate the membership or when you pay for corporate membership? There may be a considerable delay between the time you pay, when HPC processes the corporate membership, you receiving membership packages and then posting off to the membership packages to us.

As my membership expires at the end of April, I asked straitman via email some questions. These are listed with the answers I received. On receiving the following I confirmed my intent to join in.
  • Will that $190 be two years from the beginning of May or from, say, Feb?
    • Two years from your current expiry.
  • Also, just to confirm one gets:
    • 2 x $99 cards (1 per year).
      • Yes
    • 2 x Member for a Stay Cards (1 per year)
      • Yes

It is actually straitman, as in Bass Strait, but anyway.

That is OK for you as you have membership remaining on your current HPC membership. I asked the question for those of us who will be first time HPC members. If we are classed as being members at the time that straitman submits application for corporate membership and do not receive our memberships kits for another month then we have potentially lost a month of membership. May not be a big deal to some but I see no reason to lose a months membership. If I pay for membership in something I would like to have full use.

OK, I may have singled out worst case scenario but it would be nice to know up front....

At the rate people are responding I plan(?) to submit this all shortly though I may wait until 1st Feb if this effects things. Allowing for postage times etc though I will send things off within a day of getting them. I've just sent an email to HPC to ask re JohnK's question and to confirm how expiry is worked out.

I have now got 17 expressions of interest and am awaiting replies from blankman, ANDREW, drron, futaris, One9, & Bizibb to my latest email. Some have not opened the email yet and some have opened and not responded. I sent to email to confirm I had entered them correctly.

Alright, a couple of variations that I've been advised of :!:

Any that I've put together by the end of the week HPC will give expiry as end of Apr and they now have a limit (wait for it) of 10 members per corporate membership. I have asked why there was a change of rules without this being passed on. I specified an example in an email and whilst the example didn't exceed 10 the implication was that there was no limit.
HPC said:
With 4 memberships for 2 years you are looking at $1000 then an additional $150 for each member, so yes 10 would be $1900.
Having said that I will ensure that the 10 originals are processed by Friday at a minimum if we are stuck with this rule change.

The only delay is with the people who have not responded to my last email.

Bill - just letting you know that I haven't received an email from you.

Yada Yada,

Hopefully you have email now.
Thanks, just received it! I was worried because we installed the latest greatest Symantec Endpoint Security software on our server last week. Spam has dropped to almost zero but it's possible that some real email may not be getting through!
