I mean not using the Styles in Word at all; having all formatting being manual overrides to Word's Normal style, so it's Normal+Bold, Normal+24pt font, etc. I turn on formatting marks, and have seen spaces used to indent, rather than paragraph formatting or even tabs!
I am harsh about that, particularly if the applicant claims expert levels of Word and their CV as a sample document does not aupport that claim. I might react differently if I were in a different profession, of course. :)

This is why when I do need to send a resume and/or cover letter, I convert it to a PDF, so the Word format naz_'s can't see how I have formatted my resume or cover letter. :p

Mal, I am sorry to hear about the cough who attacked you. I hope you are feeling better and it doesn't deter you from getting out and about.

Katie, my applications are Arial 11 through and through. I keep them simple as that is how I like to read them when I am interviewing. I can't stand the CVs that have a multitude of fonts and sizes. KISS! BTW, my resume is 3 pages, and KSCs 8. I had to write it from scratch as I have not applied for this position before. Mind you, it is the job I am doing this month due to the vacancy!

Gotta pay for that Golf somehow ...

Golf 4 days a week shouldn't cost more than $100/week + ~$20-$30/week for membership + ~$40-$50 for beverages.

I can retire now and have more than enough left over to go to Thailand twice a year.

Why am I still working?

I aim to be semi retired at 45 and fully retired at 55... Let's see how that goes. I have a plan..

Good luck.

My plan was to retire at 50. Up until 39 years of age everything was running smoothly. It is too late now.

New plan is semi retired at 55 and hopefully fully retired by 60.

1. Because you love working so much?

2. Because you know that while being able to fund a retirement now at age 40ish means that in 20 years time you won't be able to, and that's will be 10 years before you can get an OAP funded by Gen X and Gen Y and the next Gen, as they will still be paying for the Rudd/Gillard extravaganzas.

Hang on in their JohnK!

Actually it's the Howard/Abbott extravaganzas that are costing billions in super tax breaks for rich people. Still no need to let facts get in the way of an oft repeated lie.

Looking at tour options with Mum for both of them. They have to get from ANC to LAS to meet the tour there. Looks like a good option. The tour bus leaves LAS at 1500h.

I find there's a Jetblue option they can take which goes via LGB and gets them to LAS at around 1230h. Good price, and all Jetblue flights include one piece of baggage.

Mum: "That's no good."
Me: "Why not?"
Mum: "There's not enough time."
Me: "What do you mean?"
Mum: "There's only 2.5 hours between us getting to LAS and when we have to get on the tour."
Me: "So? That's plenty of time."
Mum: "What if the plane is delayed? Are Jetblue always on time?"

Later Mum's checking out accommodation options in YVR. She's checking for four nights.

Mum: "Hey, should I book on Expedia or Agoda?"
Me: "What's the difference?"
Mum: "Expedia is cheaper."
Me: "Well, that's an easy decision. How much?"
Mum: "$12"

That's $12 for a four night stay. Basically $3 cheaper per night.

3 months since my knee replacement so I put it through a test this weekend.Survived the climb up Castle Hill.Numerous rests though.

Good work! I may be in need of one soon as did a couple of long hikes in the Lake District over the Easter Break. The views once up the top of each peak was amazing though! One was particularly tough and did require some crawling on hands and knees to get up the incline.... we were fortunate with the weather at least and had sunshine all weekend, unlike London which I'm told had a bit of rain....

Just catching up on the last few day's posts, we were down in a valley with no phone / very poor satellite internet so I was disconnected from the world for a few days, not such a bad thing!

So you're denying that the Rudd and Gillard spending won't have to be paid for by Gen X, Gen Y and other generations?

Try organising a trip for yourself and your mum. I've been answering the same questions every few days :p
