If you are lucky enough to get an Op-Up, how do they notify you?

Phone call? At check-in? Whilst doing OLCI? Whilst boarding aircraft?
I have never had a phone call but it could be at any of those steps.

I have had op-ups at check-in, the lounge and at the gate. I have never had an op-up during OLCI.

Probably not a phone call. I was OP - upd on VA on Saturday with notification coming via a page in the lounge

They paged you in the lounge and at the gate?

I've never had a phone call. Mainly get handed a new BP at the gate. Once when I did the pole swipe thing the confirmation SMS had a business seat instead of economy. Scanned my QF card barcode once and the shopper docket just printed out with a different seat.

Recently booked SYD-NRT-SYD in PE. Seats 23AB and 23JK immediately allocated by QF. These are J bulkhead in a 747 (4 class). Is this an Op-up?

I'm a bit worried though that with more than 2 months to go we may lose these seats as they are bassinet positions. Seat 23J (SYD-NRT) and 23B (NRT-SYD) have already been allocated for bassinets. Should I move seats while still able to?

Sorry, QF :)

With QF its possible anytime the flight goes to airport control, I have done OLCI domestically the day before and next morning seen the upgrade, also been paged and also at the gate. I have never had it on the plane withQF, unlike EY last week.

Yes I have been paged in the lounge and handed a new boarding pass. The one at the gate is the best as you have resigned to the fact you will be in economy.

I once checked in at SYD First class check-in counter and the check-in agent did not mention the op-up at any stage. I asked if I still had my allocated seat and she confirmed. Only when I looked at boarding pass closer did I notice that it was not my allocated seat. And it defiinitely was not in economy. ;) I think she was having a rough day.

.

There is nothing quite like the sound of the "error" ping, is there. :p First time it happened to us, I was worried. But my husband who knew exactly what it meant, had a big smile on his face when I turned around to him.

Last time I heard the error beep, there was no op-up. The FA just had fed the BP the wrong way into the machine. :(

I've had a few beep op-ups, but a lot of my op-ups happen before the gate, viz. at check-in.

.... The one at the gate is the best as you have resigned to the fact you will be in economy....

Heard the beep last night @ boarding in HKG

Agent looked at / touched the screen a few times then scanned the BP and ... gave it back to me, confirming 32J (UD).

I had to admit the sweet thought did cross my mind - to no avail.

The only saving grace was that the captain was David Evans so I could sleep soundly knowing I would be in good hands.

The one at the gate does not happen that often. Very rare.

These days when I hear the beep at the gate I make sure first it is not an op-downgrade as opposed to an op-up....

AA paged us to the gate.....got a little worried as many flights were delayed/cancelled for days due to weather event hammering the East Coast. It was all good and we got to move forward:D
