10,000 Bonus Points With New OnePath Life Insurance

I may get a few more policies then. Not sure what I'd do with 40,000 points though. :p

yeah, i'd be prepared to make anyone an honorary family member if that is what it takes to transfer any points they don't want/need... :)

it is only between family members you can transfer points isn't it? You can pay for a trip for someone else using your points but can only tranfer to a family member?

Same for both. When booking a trip for someone else, iirc, it asks for your relationship to that person with it being spouse/domestic partner or family relation. I know it did when I upgraded someone using my points.

On topic, I put in for 5 policies (2 of one type, 1 of each of the other 3). Let's see if I get 50000 points for it. 50k for sub-$100 is not too shabby (Take that QF and your 50k for 2400SC's:( )

Unfortunately the 40million or so points in this instance are held onto with an iron grip :-)

Why on earth would anyone want to hold on to that many points! :shock:

I can understand keeping some in reserve, but that many points is 83 OneWorld First 'around the world' fares! Sheer madness!

My understanding is that it's a case of earning points quicker than they can be used.

As someone within the company pointed out 'He's never going to fly anything less than the highest class available ever again...'.

Or he could trade half of them in for $150K of vouchers (good as cash) and still have enough for 40 RTW First fares!!!

And earn how many points out of that (I'll assume he's WP so it's 100% plus 50% class bonus plus 100% WP bonus).

The math would get messy but it'd be more again ;)

Yeah, he's CL... I'm guessing they don't earn any more in the way of bonus points than WP...

...just wish we could get it in writing somewhere rather than call up each time and get a different person with a different view or no clue... and establish for sure it is company policy...

I agree. I called and was told Accident Cover Plus was not included in the 10k offer. The guy sort of sounded like he was winging it though (!) - perhaps he was assuming that because it didn't have "EasyProtect" in the name that it didn't apply?

Interestingly, I received a postcard in the mail about this offer, and the link given in the postcard is onepath.com.au/qffpoints. The terms and conditions on that page include the following

* Bonus 10,000 points offer only available to customers who: (a) apply for a OnePath EasyProtect Life policy with OnePath directly, either online or over the phone by calling 1300 386 129 (b) hold the policy for a minimum period of 2 months; and (c) supply their Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number to OnePath within 30 days of taking up the policy. Bonus points may take up to 4 months to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.

That page doesn't seem to give an escape to policies other than Easy Protect Life.

If you follow the correct link from the Qantas page - it only gives you 4 options to sign up with - of which one is Accident Cover Plus. So there is zero doubt that this is included.

It defines eligible policies as:

Eligible OnePath Insurance Policies’ are life insurance policies issued by OnePath (sold with or without the assistance of a licensed financial adviser) including:
• Term Life;
• Income Protection;
• Trauma;
• Accidental Death;
• Total & Permanent Disability; and
• ‘ANZ’ branded life insurance policies,

However the T&C on awarding the 10,000 points is actually not defined. It is implied, but not precisely defined.
