Re: QFF points for gift vouchers

How long does it take to be sent the email voucher...? Purchased yesterday and still no confirmation email...

Thankfully I did print out the booking reference which I believe is all I need to make the bookings, can anyone confirm this for me please...?

Edit: Checking online shows the booking reference as follows: -

Re: QFF points for gift vouchers

I've always received my vouchers within a few minutes. Noting you kept a screen dump of the number or even just the number, try it for a dummy booking.

You're right you only need the number, not the actual voucher, for booking.

Agree with Hvr. The email usually only takes 5-15 minutes to come through. And once the email comes through, then it is usually right to book. Sounds like there might be something amiss with your voucher, and it might be worth a phone call to follow up.

AFAIK, it was never reported to be successful on AFF

The reason is plain as stated in the T & C

That's why it helps to read the T & C - sometimes.

I threw a curly one to telephone sales this morning.

Tried to book a JASA using newly purchased gift voucher (double status credits and 10 times points on the purchase)

The response was ohhhh! don't know how I can do that. After consulting with supervisor the answer came back that they couldn't find a way to pay for the fare with the voucher.

I paid with a credit card in the end. Seems as though the system can't cope with this combination.

Anyone else had experience with this?

I'd second this view.

Multiple-name vouchers are a pain in the neck unless your itinerary is set in stone.

Single name vouchers give you much more flexibility, plus you lose nothing as you can always TCP them to enjoy your status / seating etc....

Generally, it is best to buy single passenger vouchers rather than multiple passengers on the same voucher to avoid having a voucher which you can't really use due to it being for 2 pax whereas you only want 1.

Worst case where you do have multiple pax on the same flights, simply have the bookings TCPed which has pretty much the same effect as being on the same booking.

While i agree it is important to be very certain if buying a multi person voucher; TCP is not as good as a booking for 2 people.

Re: QFF points for gift vouchers

You're right you only need the number, not the actual voucher, for booking.

The only useful part of the actual PDF voucher is the number anyway.

In the past I have bought one then redeemed it straightaway without the voucher ever being sent to my email. The e-ticket and receipt came through but no voucher :lol:

Has anybody had any experience purchasing these with the WW EDR card? Does it earn 2pts/dollar? The T&Cs don't seem to specifically include or exclude gift voucher purchases.

I'm also interested in this answer? The T&C's (below) are not absolute either way but I suggest that since I'm not actually booking a flight, nor buying membership it's just the standard 1point per dollar. Thoughts..?
4. In addition to ordinary points, we allocate one bonus point for each whole AUD 1.00 of total value of spend (rounded up or down to the nearest whole dollar value) using your credit card on: (a) Qantas passenger flights with a QF flight number purchased on the Qantas merchant account i.e. directly with Qantas or some travel agents: or (b) Qantas Club or Qantas Frequent Flyer membership joining or annual fees. Excludes purchases from Qantas Freight, Qantas Holidays, Qantas Business Travel, Jetset Travelworld or the Jetstar Group of companies and purchases of Qantas branded products supplied by third parties. We may from time to time vary the Qantas products and services that are eligible to earn bonus points.

I ordered mine w' WEDRCC and all came though OK immediately. Don't know about how many points though.

I found that last time if I called up I could use multiple vouchers in one booking. Not sure if I was just lucky or if it's something they didn't want to advertise.

this looks good, but how do you extract value with this clause ? "Only one voucher can be redeemed per booking"

That's interesting... Anybody else have this experience?

All sorted now, apparently I did a typo when entering my CC details :lol:

Re: QFF points for gift vouchers

Good to see them back - I'll be waiting towards the end of the period to purchase to extend the validity date of them.

Likewise, very happy for piggybacking onto my DSC and possibly seeing whether I can use my Qantas Cash to purchase.

I usually buy a number of $250 and $500 vouchers. MEL, ADL and SYD all covered on the $250 versions (either return or one way - depending on fares); $500 is good for PER trips.

I had the exact same issue as you, tried doing that and it didn't work last night when I bought it. I still haven't received a voucher confirmation yet so my guess is like you, it hasn't gone through.

However today I got a missed call from Qantas saying call them back about a booking. I called back and they had no clue but said that it MAY be as a result of entering CC wrong (not definite, I don't want to buy another and then they both come through when right now I only have use for one). What did you get told on the phone if you don't mind me asking?

Re: QFF points for gift vouchers

So I can buy a $400 voucher, which gets me 5 flights between SYD and BNE/MEL on the regular $79 deals and earns:

4000 points for the voucher (10 pts/$);
800 points for transferring from CC to Qcash (2 pts/$);
200 points for Qcash purchase (0.5 pts/$);
5000 points after flying (1000 pts/flight); and
No CC fees!

So 10,000 points, or a free domestic flight, for every $400 spent on flights (25pts/$). Sounds pretty good. Am I missing anything?

Re: QFF points for gift vouchers

It is easier to buy many vouchers and use one per trip than to only use part of the value of a larger denomination voucher. So if you're buying five return trips at $79 per leg (i.e. $158 return) then a $100 voucher per return leg will suffice.

You'll get the same points but using one voucher per booking is easier.

Given the hassles last year with issuing the residual value vouchers I agree more smaller vouchers is better than one large voucher. Just less ringing up to sort stuff.

I had a call from Qantas (came up as Private Number on my mobile) and the discussion was that they were unsuccessful in getting authorisation on my purchase and could I please confirm my card details with them again. Sure enough I had one number digit wrong. After the call I was emailed the voucher within 10 min.

Perhaps call them back and ask them to confirm the card number & expiry date of your purchase, using your booking reference as confirmation of the original purchase you wanted to confirm.
