So its Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and not Red Dwarf. And some people call me unhip for not watching red dwarf when it is entirely irrelevant to the statement.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

A certain paper that seem to be bias in the last election, still hasnt changed there ways. Stories of boat people not getting sent back; hidden way back in the Sunday paper. But the best was the story that the tax office had removed GST exemptions for people living permanently in caravan type / mobile home sites. They wakeup today and if they can afford the weekend paper, to find that they rental charges going to be charged 10%. See you dont need to increase the GST, you just remove the exemptions on people with the least ability to pay. I guess it be a happy Christmas for them. Anyway, since most of these are pensioners and retired on their 100K a year pension, they also dont have to pay that terrible 15% tax on any money over 100k anymore.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

What is REALLY disturbing is that you and Pushka have no idea of the reference Medhead was alluding to. The correct response would to be to call him a smeghead, then we could all have a chuckle and go for a beer.

Instead you huff and puff and produce TFOFA (and do it in such a humourless way).

Arguments on this forum are no fun ....

Smeghead would not be the correct reference either. ;) Hopefully they don't start reading their poetry.

Also tax the super of poor people more. That'll help the budget emergency that wasn't. Also funny that Hockey is adding heaps to the budget deficit. Where's the gang of Five to defend Hockey for making the budget much, much worse?

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

One of the worst things I've ever seen posted on this forum.

FYI calling people the peanut "galley" and talking of wifi being "event"ed by the CSIRO tends to make you look like the clown.

Oh another of the spelling police. You so win with that little gem. Yes, you are the weakest link.

As for Csiro so far all the courts have agreed its their IP. That does in fact mean they invented it. The only clowns around here are the ones who try to pretend otherwise. The only clowns around here are the spelling police, who have no proper point to make. Keep up the meaningless pathetic dribble if that is all you're capable of doing.

straitman, may I suggest that you close this topic of discussion?

It is not relevant to a forum about aviation.

Attacks on individuals as the 'weakest link' are not in accord with the spirit of forums such as this.

The whole idea of an 'off topic' space defeats the purpose of a specialist forum on topic X or Y, whether that be aviation or zoology.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

I'm sure if Pushka googles the quote the context will become clear. However, I agree that an apology for the misunderstanding would be useful. I sure it wasn't intended as a threat but I can see how it might be read as one.

I am sure as hell not apologising for someone's failure to understand. Especially given their bullying tactics against me.

It is not a threat in context or out of context, can never be taken as a threat and I did not intend it as a threat. Any suggestion that it is a threat is just another example of the bullying that these people do, because I do not agree with their political opinion. I will not apologise for their failures to accept my right to an opinion.

Ooops - backs away quietly....

Don't you have some delayed qantas flights to worry about?

Sorry to say but picking on spelling is pretty damn weak when debating politics. There have been 2 recent examples of the Abbott lovers picking on spelling. I take that as acknowledgement of Abbott just being shown as another ordinary politician, contrary to their claims that he is the messiah.

You know what, it just isn't worth it.

The point of my post, which seems top have 747'd you, was that if you're going to deride others as being the "weakest link" etc at least get the spelling correct. For example if I was to say (not saying I would but hopefully you get my drift) "Your a complete arrogant opinionated windbag who should drop off the face of the earth." It pretty much loses the impact given the lack of a "You're" don't you think?

If I wrote the word 'event' as part of such an insult you might have a point. Instead it was part my expression of incredulity that someone was trying to pretend a well known and publisized event did not happen.

However to answer your question, clearly it does for you. But to me the message is clearly communicated and i understand about autocorrect errors. Hence I don't need to pick up on your spelling to be able to tell you to "go and get stuffed", were you to write that at me.

Still the fact that you do not understand about autocorrect, and the failure of others to understand a very well known pop culture reference for Gen X, suggests a generational misunderstanding in this whole thread. Newsflash for the oldies. Menzies is dead and Abbott sure as hell is no Menzies. The world has moved on. Living in the 1950s is not going to address the challenges facing Australia.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

I would reply to some of the latest posts but I am tired of being bullied by medhead just because I don't share his political views so I wont.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

Living in the 1950s is not going to address the challenges facing Australia.

Sure as heck the period 2007 -September 2014 sure didn't address anything and created new challenges.

As far as the CSIRO wifi stuff goes, my point in all of that discussion was that having invented it they sure didn't have the wherewithal to capitalise on that financially and the sum paid in settlement was a piddling amount for it.

Generational miscommunication? Give me a break.

Pushka the app tells me you replied to my post. I am not reading the rubbish you write anymore. Given your lack of humour and your apparent melt down (based on the posts of others here) I have <redacted> why you are replying to me at all.

Like I said before. I have the same spoiler on my iPhone too. Nope, sorry to disappoint but no meltdown here. The others were disgusted all on their own without my help. If I'd had a meltdown I'd have reported it but seriously it's not even a blip on my radar. :)

(PS, the app doesn't tell you that I've replied to you, just that I've made a post ;)).

I agree. The whole thing is a great laugh.....it's amusing to see how some can't handle new management.

Funny how some couldn't handle the old management and threaten to "kill the witch".

You claimed this mob were better than the last mob. Funny how you can't handle it when the actions of the new management completely contradict their words before the election. Funny how you can't handle it when their failings are mentioned.

 Actually, I've posted very little in this thread over the past 2 months. It's funny how some can be whipped into a frenzy over politics - it's so pointless.

The tone of the thread has become very aggressive with borderline abusive comments the flavour of the day......sad really.

Another great cartoon by Mark Knight.

Indeed. Perhaps it is something that the gang of 5 should of considered before they decided to make personal, borderline abusive comments at people for mentioning the failings of the current government.

My personal favourite happened after mentioning Tony Abbott's first speech as PM demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of the parliamentary process, being told to "get over the election result".

The snide personal comments about me in asking about a drink driving charge. Plus numerous other snide comments. As far as I can see you only have yourselves to blame.

A couple of examples that still exist. There are numerous that have disappeared during the couple of periods when this thread was closed.

This is just bizarre. Who are we to say how the Foreign Minister - who hasn't even taken office yet - should work and sleep and spend her hours before nodding off? Who and how she entertains visitors is none of our business. I'm sure that she - like most recent Foreign Ministers - will do her job as she sees fit.

If she wants to save money, that is fine by me.

Nice to see you're giving them a chance though 
