Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

Tony is smart not to send back the last boat arrival. The news reporting one of them is a fastbowler. Just in time to rush him into the first test.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

So calling people peanuts, saying their posts are excrement (you then withdrew that), calling people a "gang of 5", (just because they don't agree with you); the weakest link; let alone the message about the zebra crossing, just in the last 30 hours! is not personal and is acceptable.

Oh sorry, that's a generational misunderstanding hey.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

I would reply to some of the latest posts but I am tired of being bullied by medhead just because I don't share his political views so I wont.

That won't happen. You'll get tossed onto some boat called the "Peanut Galley" though. Wonder where it's heading?

You set the standard I just followed your lead.

Just show me then. Find actual posts where I have used abusive language towards you.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

The tone has been set by Tony Abbott and followed by his supporters...

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

Saying that people got knifed is nasty aggressive language. I'm really over the aggression.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

They announced it because all new arrangements commencing after that day (or soon thereafter - cannot recall exactly) would be subject to the new rules if the legislation passed.

You could forgive the ALP for thinking they might have a chance to win the election at that time because it was during Rudd's honeymoon period where the polls were much tighter than they were prior to his taking over from Gillard.

Mmm

2-1 no other comment needed lol :)

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

Maybe, then, you can elaborate on how facilitating tax dodges creates wealth.

Legitimate tax deductions are useful at creating wealth for oneself. I'm not suggesting people do anything illegal but if an opportunity exists you would be stupid to ignore it.

Agreed it's getting a bit out of hand, if some people could just accept the will of the people and move on it would be better. But that's not going to happen there's going to be 3 years of whinging at least hopefully more.

I'm actually getting a bit bored with it all.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

Indeed. Perhaps it is something that the gang of 5 should of considered before they decided to make personal, borderline abusive comments at people for mentioning the failings of the current government.

My personal favourite happened after mentioning Tony Abbott's first speech as PM demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of the parliamentary process, being told to "get over the election result".

The snide personal comments about me in asking about a drink driving charge. Plus numerous other snide comments. As far as I can see you only have yourselves to blame.

A couple of examples that still exist. There are numerous that have disappeared during the couple of periods when this thread was closed.

But you aren't giving them a chance thats my point. You won't let them do anything before you criticize them.

That didn't answer the question.

I prefer to make my judgements based on principles.

I see you're still a keen believer in the idea that running a country should be like a reality TV show.

Really?

Julia stabbed Kevin in the back. Kevin stabbed Julia in the back. And Bill is where he wanted to be just before Julia stabbed Kevin in the back.

And you find that aggresive?

And Tony stabbed Malcolm in the back, I presume?

Emotive language is used by the media to sex up their otherwise 2nd-rate journalism and the public laps it up and asks for more.

But it's so much easier than debating the issues so I don't suppose it's going to change in a hurry.

Not that I can understand how you've come to make that statement but if I could then my question is what did you think of all the selfies our previous PM did?

I'd also like to know what people mean here when they talk about principles. Seems to me as long as people state they have principles , it gives them the right to say whatever they like about others.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

Not that I can understand how you've come to make that statement [...]

Because you keep insisting that since marginally more people voted for the current Government than didn't, anything they do is implicitly approved, and anyone who disagrees is implicitly wrong and should shut up.

Not that you were able to take your own advice over the last few years.

[...] but if I could then my question is what did you think of all the selfies our previous PM did?

A contemporary equivalent to kissing babies.

I'd also like to know what people mean here when they talk about principles. Seems to me as long as people state they have principles , it gives them the right to say whatever they like about others.

Seems to me there's a lot more offense being taken than given.
