Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

If TA had handled the Indonesia situation better Mr Murdock and his quality journalists would have provided bias fact in TA's favour.... they didn't....

Indonesia is old news... all about Gonski today, and TA and Pyne's backflip. Interesting to see the TA's team going against the experts who have been developing the new model for the past 3 years .. and even the Liberal NSW Government. Interesting to see that it didn't make the front page of news.com.au but made headlines on the radio...

Because obviously the only explanation for a difference of opinion is trolling.

LOL post 1589 is good and the sentiment implied spot on;)

That's seems to be your response to a lot of comments. You're the only one who mentions others are trolling here. ;)

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

You just don't get it do you.You are saying Tony Abbott has done the wrong thing re the bugging allegations.
Nothing you have said or linked to offers any proof of what you are saying.
the Indonesian president not liking what TA said in Parliament is not proof of your basic claim that TA is hopeless.
Once you admit you just hate tony Abbott so that nothing he he does or says will ever be right in your mind then we can move on.

As for TP on Insiders she chided TA for making missteps and in the same answer said it was not her place to comment on intelligence matters-after of course she just had.To me that smacks of the arrogant left wing sense of superiority that you so admirably display.

Yes - I am saying Despicable T took the wrong approach to the spying scandal. How else could you interpret the anger and reaction to his blustering response in parliament. In your eyes TA could never do anything wrong, so I suppose reality is a stranger in your world. And I did not say that TA is universally hopeless. I happen to think he is quite adept at lying and fooling the DFOs into voting for him.

The missteps that TP referred to were his offensive boats policy that trampled over Indonesia's sovereignty, and his clumsy response to spying allegations that inflamed a sensitive issue. What she would NOT respond to (no matter how much Barrie Cassidy tried) were questions about what TA should have said. She rightly pointed out that TA had access to experts in the various departments whose role is to give advice about diplomatic matters. Hopefully he will listen to them in future.

How are those TP quotes coming along? You seem to have either forgotten about them or maybe you hope that have the attention span of a Pukarmaron.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

The Indonesians are playing the long game with the Liberals.
This is what you get when you announce unworkable policies well before an election that others can use to their own advantage.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

At the risk of confusing those on my right .... I think we need to open a second front with these Conski ... sorry Gonski .... wait .... it's Conski reforms again.

If ever there was proof that education reforms were needed to fix a broken model, it's the fact that all the Gonski agreements are to be torn up now that the election is over. How could the DFOs be so stupid as to not see that coming? [Refer to statement #1.]

Dumb and dumber - welcome to drongoland.

[BTW - the catchphrase of the day is now "Shorten Shambles". Make sure to repeat ad nauseum like Crass Pain did tonight.]

2 hours later and the ABC are leading with old news.....pathetic, bias, leakers....thats your ABC!

Liars, scumbags, and morally corrupt .... that's your Coalition!

[You prove your claim and I will happily provide evidence of mine.]

If by "a lot" you mean "one", then yes, I suppose it is.

Indeed.

I've been called a troll a few times on this thread. And that response you've referred to was simply someone responding to your comment that I was. ;)

Plenty of evidence up thread.....no need to flood the thread with more examples of 3rd rate ABC journalism and hypocritical rubbish. The ABC is good for weather reports and that's about it......I hear it's not a bad place to work if you're a man and want to get paid more than the women working next to you. But I digress.

BTW it's your coalition/Gov unless you've left Oz and won't be coming back;)

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

How do you know what he did/wrote/speak? Much speculation - rubbish really!

I don't need to know what was said as my comments were based on information in the news story suggesting a member of the Indonesian government hinted the letter might have had the desired effect. No speculation there other than you guessing what I was thinking.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

I would have liked an apology from the last Government for putting our nation deeply into debt just as the post war baby boomers had started shuffling out of the work force. The previous two PMs were so into themselves that all the stupid stuff will be missing when they write their memoirs. They have no shame for buggering up a country in 6 years of mistakes and mismanagement of Australia's finances.

Looks like it's a blatant opportunistic media storm fanned by the Indo Gov.....classic political tactic for domestic consumption.

Now they've called in the Sth Korean and SIN ambassador. Indo is like a kid in lolly shop gorging itself on a massive sugar hit.

Finally something we agree on. But my point, is that it matters little what Indonesia's motives are, diplomacy has been too slow in coming from the Australian government. Imagine how different this episode would have been had the initial approach been a little less arrogant from Abbott and co.

And who would blame them? One Term Tony might as well have been walking the streets of Indonesia with a "Kick Me" sign taped to his back.

We obviously don't agree on this point. For the past 6 years Australia has allowed Indo to dictate the relationship......not much good came from that.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

I really cant get over how people think the bugging scandal was all of Tony Abbott's making.Fails a common sense test.
More information is slowly coming out.We know that the ABC did show the reports to the Office of National Affairs who requested that they not publish 3 items-the ABC agreed to only one.
Now as the government knew before the publication what did they do.Well it now transpires that our Intelligence people met their Indonesian counterparts early this month discussing this issue-
This appeared to confirm the reported commitment earlier this month by Australian intelligence chiefs to their Indonesian counterpart, Marciano Norman, that Australia was not now and would not engage in electronic surveillance against domestic targets in Indonesia - See more at: Cookies must be enabled. | The Australian

So rather than the ALP fanbois tremendous failure the Government was already working behind the scenes to resolve the problem.A success of proper diplomacy true to the old principle of in public neither confirming or denying matters related to security.

No doubt that our resident anti-TA bunch will continue on in their denial. But they now will have to play between themselves as tomorrow I am off on my next trip.
