Excuse me sorry if this has been answered before.

If I purchase an explorer membership with free night, can this be used at say the Swissotel Osaka please?

Do you have a date in mind? i can look for you if it is available before you purchase it. Also, maybe wait for a promo before purchasing. They do one every 3 months now i think.

Hi gang - considering something here, and after advice or thoughts. I currently have Accor+ membership that runs though August 2024, but to maximise the benefit of the ‘carryover’ member status that applies to A+ members (in case I ever need it), I was thinking to let the A+ membership lapse in August, and then start over in mid-late December. Assuming I had no ALL bookings, or maybe more specifically, no plans to leverage dining discounts through that period… am I right in thinking this would be a better membership start/end date? Any negatives?

Cheers,
Matt.

Yes, a membership anniversary late in the year is most advantageous.

can the free accor stay plus night benefit be used for a family member? Can the booking be made in the card members name with the sisters also mentioned as a guest who can then arrive early to check in ?

I know you cant make a booking under someone else's name, some hotels may ask for the main guests details upon check in but cany say I have ever tried it

Is it's possible to use 2x stay plus credits at the same hotel on the same night?

I've got two in my account and have successfully made the bookings but I note it says that only one stay plus can be used per stay.

I booked two consecutive free nights under different bookings, and the hotel proactively emailed me to tell me that this was against the T&Cs and they'd be changing the second night back to the regular member rate, so it really depends, and you'll probably need to be prepared for them to refuse to apply it.

I think when you try to book the second Stay Plus credit on the same night(even at different hotel) the website will inform you that you have already used one Stay Plus night credit on the day(or something along that line) and decline your ability to book again for that same day using Stay Plus credit.

my stay plus accoint is in my sisters name . We have same surname . She won’t be checking in . Will they insist on her being present at check in ? If they refuse check in will we lose the stay plus credit or will I be able to use it another time ?

High probability that they will refuse check in if account holder is not present with their photo ID.

Cancellation conditions for Stay Plus seem to be by 6pm on the same day or the day before. If you picked a hotel with same day cancellation then I guess you can cancel the booking by 6pm and still get the Stay Plus back.

i booked a stay plus on consecutive nights, 1 on wifes account and 1 on my account. Assume this is generally ok, worse case we would need to check out and back in.

Hotel: Fairmont Singapore

This should be OK - just contact the hotel and have them link the bookings so they know they are to be contiguous

I do this a lot of the time at various hotels other than Fairmont Singapore. I found that if Welcome drinks/Welcome amenity is important to you, then better be unlike dairyfloss's suggestion of linking the bookings, in fact, don't let the hotel knows that the two bookings are related.

Then after the first night, we would both go to reception and tell them that we have another booking the following night under my wife/husband's name, and that whether we can keep the same room for the coming evening. At this point the front desk person would happily check me out and check my wife's booking in, however, more often than not they don't issue you with another set of Welcome Drinks vouchers with this second check in. If I am lucky, the drinks vouchers would have been prepared already in the keycard wallet and we still get the drinks vouchers for the second night. But >50% of times the front desk will claim that husband and wife bookings are considered one single stay and only entitled to one set of drinks voucher and amenity.

At this point I would argue that these are two separate bookings in different names so the two bookings are not considered as one stay(honestly I don't know if my interpretation of the T&C of a "stay" is right). Some would then reluctantly agree to issue two more welcome drinks vouchers at this point but still a minority would still try to hit back and say that this is one single stay under the terms and conditions and still decline to issue drinks vouchers. At that point I would say then let me go back to the room to pack up, check out and leave my luggage at front desk(more work for them), we'll come back at check in time to check in again for another room(which means the cleaning staff would need to do a big clean of the room we stayed, as opposed to a brief clean as a continuing guest). Then most would issue the additional drinks vouchers upon hearing this but I can note that pxx_ed off faces on the check in agents.

I sometimes get a second Welcome amenity for this but depends on which hotel. But I tried linking the two bookings(rare, like on occasions when the hotel agrees a complimentary extra bed for our child) then there would almost always be only one set of Welcome Drinks vouchers/amenity.

Of course if Welcome Drinks vouchers/amenity is not important to you then dairyfloss's suggestion of linking bookings would be best.

this is great, thanks for this. I'll have a think about it. I don't think i care that much for it but i can't recall what the welcome amenity was last time we stayed so will consult the wife to see if it's worthwhile.

For me,usually the welcome amenity would be some fruit or couple of pieces of chocolate/cake +/- a bottle of $10 cheap wine.

Ok... and you think going through all that pain to claim such a bonus is worth the effort?? I rarely even redeem a drink voucher, so will take convenience in advance over all that hassle. Each to their own, though! :)
