Well the over by Broad against Warner before lunch showed he still has a way to go in facing pace - he was squared up in 4 of the balls.

Then he got lucky when he was just dropped by Cook at first slip.

A friend from NZ kindly sent me this photo of her Sky channel screen:

Warner now showing his confidence - 2 fours and a six off Finn

Bell (at second slip) has just dropped Warner, so his luck is holding.

Our openers have have just faced 18.2 overs, the same number as the whole team yesterday. Quite a turnaround :o

English woes should continue - Rogers caught by Root but it appears to be a no ball by Wood - no part of the foot behind the line...then an absurd appeal next ball for caught behind when his bat was a good 6 inches from the ball.

Rogers hits a 4 next ball and gets his 50 and Australia 0/110

Chris Rogers out next over - similar catch by Root at third slip off Stokes. Steve Smith strides to the crease. 2 balls later, Warner gets his 50 (was really pushing for the second run). Then he top edges a six over fine leg. He's back to his erratic best

Warner gets sucked into another half shot and is out for 64 (c Broad b Stokes). Now we're 2/130 and Marsh now in.

Now Marsh has failed again - out for 2, caught in slips off Stokes. 3/136 and Clarke comes to the crease with a mountain to climb. OMG - Stokes has caught Smith for 5 off Broad. 4/136. Voges now in and makes it to tea. 4/138 and time for bed

Collapse from cruising at 0/113. :(

Lucky to make stumps. A 2 day test match. Wow!!!!

You're right JohnK. We are currently 4 for -193, the way we are going they won't need to bat again

Waking up this morning, I half expected to see that England had got us all out in the last session.

Not quite, but the fat lady is going through her scales. Still 90 behind making England bat again and only 2 wickets left. I said we would get to Day 4. Looks like I was a day out - my nightmare came true:

I went to bed with the openers still in and hoping for 0-300 but expecting all out 150. Somewhere in between. The only indignity spared was losing in two days. Next target: not losing by an innings which will depend on Starc batting as well as he did in the last Test.

Certainly had a purple patch in the England innings yesterday. I actually saw Starc swinging the old ball. Ali and Broad could barely put bat on it. Then Clarke takes the new ball and it gets smashed to all corners...

Yes I stayed up and watched and at 110 with no loss of wickets I had hope. Yes, we had some luck, but about time. Then the rot started again. Liked this coment from Greg Baum in the Fairfax press

"If you wanted to be cruel, you could say that Australia should have replaced Mitch Marsh with a traffic cone. They would have been no worse off for bowlers, and at least the traffic cone would not have chased a swinging ball (though it would have been a sucker for lbw)."

And Boycott's piece in the Telegraph is difficult to read but says it all, brutally.
Ponting's comments also that half the team should never play test cricket again is probably a bit polite I would have thought.

Shame. See if they can show some fight today and regain some respect.

Arrogance. This feature needs to go. There is no place for it. Learn to be humble. And when you are beating the opposition don't rub it in. I know some of our players thrive on arrogance and sledging. We don't need them.

But I know what's going to happen. They'll keep the same team. Bully Bangladesh, Zimbabwe etc to boost their averages and then cannot handle quality opposition.
