Hell of a start now 3/28 :D. Root out and now Pietersen. Sorry to my wife who was asking me a work question and I have kept interrupting her with "he's out" 3 times. Go Harris!

Good move to change Starc for Harris. Also agree with Usman for Ed Cowan

I thought we had a new contributor to the cricket thread until I read the admin post re your name change.

I am glad we have an Aussie (Shane Warne) in the commentary team for this test , I do like Strauss ,Bumble and Athers but Hussain and Botham are too biased for my liking.

Wow, you shouldn't leave ones that close to off stump Trott. Begging to be bowled....or even to be almost caught the next ball in gully

Lunch and 3/78, so first hour was all Aussies and England took the honours for the second hour. But 3 wickets is worth more than 78 runs, so Aussies have the ascendancy.

Love the cameras in the Long Room. Great tradition.

I'm in the Cathay J lounge at MEL - no cricket on TV!

Can someone guest me in to the SQ or other lounge ?

Or do I have to slum it upstairs?
:)

Finally got Trott out for 58, they were on 99 for partnership. Now 4/134 (Harris has 3/27). Think it's bedtime

Looks like I missed a bit of an English fightback, just viewed cricinfo to see they ended 7/289 at stumps. Bell another century and Bairstow (playing for his spot in the side) a half century.

Just talking with the headmaster of my daughters school (also a cricket tragic). He told me about the no ball decision that bowled Bell. Damn need to see the replay. C'est la vie

If you look up 'ecb' on Youtube you can view short highlights packages of each session. I do wonder why the umpire reviewed Siddle's 'wicket' - must have spotted something but wasn't game to call it a no ball.

Smith - who'd a thunk it? Not the Poms that's for sure.

Note Broad has been 'protected' by Anderson as a nightwatchman!

Hope to roll them for 320 and then Australia need to score 500 to avoid chasing too many in the fourth innings. Might be a pipe dream but I think it's about the only chance we have. They say batting last won't be easy - it never really is though.

You could see he (Siddle) was in trouble immediately...ever so close, and as much as you tried to will his heel back a few millimetres (that would have done it), you couldn't.

Watched the last session yesterday in a little Pommie Pub (as in one on every corner) just of Blackfriars Rd. Something about being the only Aussie in bar full of Poms when the cricket is on !! Go the Aussies

I find the umpires generally review no balls when they give out these days. Happens a lot, not just in this game.

On another topic, watching just now and they zoomed in on UK PM David Cameron in a high stand, probably surrounded by security personnel as they all had dark shades on. Then they zoom in on John Howard in a box. So weird, I'd imagine the British PM would be in a box??

Good start this morning (evening) by Australia but so far England has rallied hard. 350 would be good.

Warks, you were on the money with your guess - turned it on tonight to see the Poms 9/319 but then Broad & Swan hit out.

I missed the wicket of Watson (but hear he wasted a review on a plumb lbw) but what a bizarre dismissal of Rogers (who should have used the remaining review as it appears it would have missed leg stump). 2/50...

Followed by Hughes who wasted the last review, despite Hotspot and Snicko suggesting a faint edge... and then a very nearly run out. Exciting!

Gee, I check out the British Open golf and turn it back to see 4/69. Clarke & Smith in - Khawaja didn't look comfortable against the Swan spin and was dropped at first slip. Off to check cricinfo
