Australian state border restrictions

I think to that is fair to point out that in WA the Premier and his Health Minister have not yet been vaccinated. They have said that they will only do so when the Pfizer vaccine is flowing freely and if it is believed that an early vaccination will act as an encouragement to others.
Yes. The WA government has shown leadership on this. Much better than some others.

Looking’ good at this stage. 😀
I'm holding my GC booking for the moment. There must have been a multitude of cancellations though, as GC was booked solid but there is now a lot more accomodation availability.

A little better news on our WA trip today.Mrsdrron got the bid for an upgrade email for our WA flight next Thursday. So I thought there may have been some cancellations so possibly AA might have some J awards now.And they did.Not our booked flight but the next flight and on a 333.20000 points + $19.30 each.Sweet.

Those crays just trembled some more... 😜

Well NSW now has some restrictions in place which are encouraging some of their citizens to cross the border into Victoria.

Offgrid camping is one the many ways I enjoy travel and camping on the Murray River at present it is very clear that the NSW side is barren and most campers are on the Vic side including many with NSW number plates.

Reason being is that due to Covid NSW has brought in a permit system where previously had none which allows 1/ very few campers and which 2/ also has a maximum stay of only one week. As school holidays starts with Easter many people want 2 to 3 weeks.

Weather is glorious at present.

Great spot. Is there weather coming in your way?

The politicians can ramp all they like, but behind the scenes, mostly unreported, tens of thousands of private sector general practice and pharmac_ staff are training and preparing for 2a rollout.
Which is as it should be but generally you should ensure you are ready BEFORE you announce it!

Just an update on thoughts of WA.Initially I was like a lot and willing to stop considering WA for trips in the future.
Today I am the complete opposite. The response we have had from individual tourist operators with our constant changes of dates and then the cancellation of the first week of the trip has been awesome. We will not be out of pocket 1 cent. One operator who we had paid with a card we have since cancelled was only too happy to repay on a different card.

But yesterday the cruise operator reached out to us knowing we are Queenslanders offering to put us on the same cruise next year with no extra payment if we could not make it suggesting that the 14 day quarantine obviously would be crazy for a 5 day cruise.

So I now want to encourage people to travel to WA and support these tourist businesses who are obviously not all doing as well as their Government boasts.

Nah, we are prepared and ready to go. When supply comes on, we are ready to go. This is unlike anything in Australian history despite the histrionics of Fed Vs State. We are well positioned and this will happen successfully.

I also have concerns over Chairman Mark's border restrictions, but still have cancellable bookings for Jan 22, as I have always loved our yearly WA visits.

Whilst I feel for WA tourist operators, I will NOT be travelling to WA whilst the coughy, arrogant supreme leader of WA threatens ongoing hard border closures, and forced retrospective 14 day hotel quarantine at my expense. He has made it very clear he does not agree with GB's approach to Covid outbreaks in NSW...a big shame he won a landslide victory recently so there is absolutely no opposition to keep him honest!

Firstly I am talking about down the track. This trip was booked before March 2020 and has been changed a lot since. But by mid 2022 I am hopeful we will be able to schedule WA trips.

As to Mark just remember QLD.In 2012 the ALP was reduced to 7 out of 89 MPs.so only 1 in 13 MPs were from the ALP.They won the next election.
In WA the Nats + libs have 6 out of 59 seats so 1 in 10 members are non ALP.As has been said pride can go before a fall.

If a person has had the full Covid vaccine (both doses) and can show them on a health passport, if there are state border closures (read WA), can they be exempt from quarantining?

I wonder if states will close borders with WA due to the lockdown there and how long they will take to reopen again?

I also wonder if this will impact travel between Perth and NZ?

Just checking. They're doesn't appear to be any permit or on line documentation required for entry into QLD from a 'green zone' ( ie Tasmania, xMEL). Correct?

I have found the venue 'check-in app.

That's right but I would think that arriving on a flight from MEL now you will be met by a few of QLD's finest.
