Australian state border restrictions

Due to fly up QLD Friday (FlyerTalk OzFest), Booked to travel back on Monday

Monitoring closely.
I'll wave as I pass. Flying MCY-MEL-SYD on Fri; he seeking DSCs, she on a 1/2 price fare. QF flogging bid now upgrades on the sector to MEL, first time I've been targeted for that in forever...

No reason for SA to react at all. After all, it leaked out of their quarantine, so any cases coming from Victoria would simply be returning the favour.

We cancelled our caravan trip to Qld because of the ongoing behaviour of the various politicians. Looks like my nephew will have to cancel his SA, NT trip that was due to depart on Saturday. He’s from the regions, but…. The airline reaction will be interesting….I guess a lot more people are about to be stood down.

I have a trip planned to Melbourne on the 13th of june so what are others thoughts on this no longer being a viable option and to look at another state instead.

My trips are staying within QLD for the rest of this year. Cairns (from Brisbane) coming up this weekend.

Just re-booked CNS-xBNE-xMEL-HBA to CNS-xBNE-HBA for Saturday. Although I don't think transiting even a locked-down Melbourne will be a problem getting back to Tas, and I'll miss a few SCs, it means I can now relax and I even get back home earlier. $75 additional fare, as it was a real cheapie when booked.

Im supposed to go on 18th - Im waiting at this stage but suspect will be rebooking for much later in the year. This outbreak isnt shaping up to be a non-event like the other ones this year. Thankfully all fully flexible/refundable arrnagements.

I'm booked to leave Melbourne for a few interstate trips late June and mid-July. Can I get a refund if QF cancels the flights even though I booked cheap fares?

I hope the trips can go ahead, as with work commitments etc. if I don't get then I'm looking at putting off those trips till the end of the year, but need to face the possibility that they may not be able to go ahead.

Off topic, but Qantas will allow you a travel credit. See the Qantas forum for more.

My partner has already put in for holidays so will start looking around fro an alternative. Just wish car hire wasn't more than accommodation and airfares combined as it would give me more options.

Not surprising, but still annoying. Now I need a few borders to reopen by late June and mid July respectively or I'll have to rebook my travel plans.

Sadly No wave here.

I have just cancelled my booking.
Yes, indeed. Trying the nerves of steel system and waiting for QF to cancel one of my flights so I can claim ORC. Checkin opens in 25 minutes, no canx yet 😬

Edit: Went to water. AP has declared all of Victoria evil hotel quarantine country and nothing on website so uncertain re airport transits. Both flights remain uncancelled. Paid the modest extra for a flex fare avoiding MEL.

I have no idea what the WA government will do in that regard (whether transit counts), so I rebooked a PER-xMEL-SYD to a PER-SYD on VA this morning. Unfortunately I lose four hours at the other end. With the 'bonus 20 SC' on at the moment this might actually work out better for me though! Will be interesting to see as the only redeye scheduled on VA tomorrow night was to MEL (unlike tonight that also has BNE and SYD).

Interestingly my G2G Pass for WA still said 'Approved' despite the numerous texts and emails to say otherwise.

My experience with the G2G Pass is that the rejection of a previously approved pass comes through overnight, typically around midnight.

$278 and a few clicks later and my trip to Cairns next week rerouted via Sydney. I'd better enjoy the QF Gold (doing the Fast Track) as it's just become a $2k J class ticket. They'd better not switch out the A330 leg either 😂

Any news on the QLD border situation?

Had been going to Adelaide next Wednesday from Canberra via Melbourne and return to go to the Ranges Rally Sprint up at Hawker.
Changed to direct flights to avoid Melbourne, all good. Rally was cancelled this morning due to Vic border closures, sigh.
It was going to have nearly every Australian rally champion for the last 40+ years running, mostly in cars they ran in.

Might go up north to warmer climes instead.

Also have Canberra, Melbourne, Christchurch in 3 weeks for another rally, J class with double SC’s. Will have to look for alternatives now.

I know my issues are very minor compared to some, but it’s still a pain! :)
