If you have flights from VIC to NSW booked over the next couple of days, will these be automatically cancelled? Does anyone know? Are there exemptions for people who need to travel for work? Am I clutching at straws?

I imagine some of the flights will be cancelled, but a small number will likely still operate.

You may need to explain that to me, if there's extended lockdown in VIC meaning that residents can no travel outside their radius...to what ends are the flights still operating? Purely for those who are exempt?

What's giving me hope is this from the NSW health site:
"If the area you’re travelling from is neither an affected area, area of concern or place of high concern:
  • you may enter NSW
  • you do not need to complete a traveller declaration form
  • you do not need to self-isolate"
Provided that Metro Melbourne isn't considered an "affected area". The site only provides definitions on "area of concern" and "place of high concern" though.

I am pretty sure there is a directive that if you've been in Victoria you need to follow the stay at home orders when you get there. I'm not sure of your line of work but I would think you will need to apply for an exemption to that order by the NSW CHO.

You're out of luck.

The State of Victoria is currently considered an Area of Concern under the NSW Public Health (COVID-19 Interstate Travellers) Order (No2) 2021.

You do have to complete a declaration form, and you're subject to the same lockdown provisions as detailed by Victoria (but not full isolation as you would be if you were a close contact)

A very few will have reason to travel and be exempt. Some will travel to Melbourne. Others will be in transit to or from elsewhere.

It's not clear what you're hoping for. Under the current NSW concerns notice, all of Victoria has been declared an affected area, and from the commencement of the Melbourne lockdown an Area of Concern. If you're in Melbourne, the Victorian lockdown restrictions apply, which will stop almost all travel interstate from Melbourne. NSW has indicated they don't need to restrict people coming from Melbourne because Victoria has already imposed the relevant restrictions. Even if you can travel from Victoria to NSW, you generally still have to lock down. Note that the NSW lockdown applies to most travellers from Victoria, not just Melbourne.

Any thoughts on a Victorian traveling to South Australia?

We're booked for next Friday, but...

Not in Melbourne Metro region... but until Thursday last week I did commute to work there. Now I'm working from home, in regional Victoria. Now I'm confused about it all, I can't keep up with these logistics, hah!

No idea if I'm able to fly or not, but either way assuming they'll want to see my 'domestic' visa and face mask e.t.c.

Next we'll be changing currency for interstate trips!

Unless you live in a border community (within 70km of the border) and have stayed within that zone for the entire 14 days before travelling you aren't allowed: Travel restrictions

You wouldn't meet the requirements to travel to SA unless restrictions are eased by then. I can't see that happening. I'm hoping my trip towards the end of the month can go ahead.

Well if I could gift you my lounge pass... only it's now digital!

Thanks for thinking of that, but I am currently a SG so if I can travel to ADL later this month and if the lounge in MEL is open I'll be able to get in unless capacity limits pose a problem.

Some arrivals into MCY aren't happy with their welcome from QPS. Seems they are profiling the locals.

Sunshine Coast Airport arrivals confused and angry at police 'invasion of privacy'

While we too got a grilling there last weekend, we're now familiar with crossing the iron curtain. The trick is to have lots of doco at the ready that you can wave at them.

Yesterday coming off a flight in BNE passed a horde of police and a few discomfited looking suits, obviously in custody, lined along the wall. Strange times indeed.

It’s all a bit of a joke when QLD hasn’t closed its border to NSW nor is it making them get a border pass.

Maybe if Anna was a bit more friendly to Gladys, NSW health could tip off QLD officials when the pax arrive in SYD. They all have to complete NSW health declarations on arrival.

When I arrived in Brisbane last week from Newcastle we did not get met by QPOL.

On our arrival into MCY we were told we were to be met by QPS because of advice from Sydney. Which suggests what you're describing is happening, but QF is doing it rather than NSW Health.

When I flew to Bne from Syd last Friday (8 days ago), I just walked off the plane into the arrival terminal and out of the airport..I was expecting to be asked by someone ? police whether I had been to Melbourne recently which I had but more than 14 days prior. I had my Velocity account ready to show them when I had left Melbourne.

I now think the chances of the lockdown extending beyond the 10 June are increasing throwing my plans to travel interstate in less than three weeks into serious doubt.

Same here, have end of month flight travels.
You'd think we need at least a couple days of zero case before lockdown ends.
I know they decide upon the story behind the cases Yada yada, but I'm very much thinking an extension again to the lockdown, at very best some minor restrictions removed, no idea what though.

They might extend the distance one can travel from 10km to 15km and maybe year 9 and 10 back to school but not expecting more than minor relaxations (if anything) if extended again.

I think other states may want the lockdown to be over for a few weeks before interstate travel goes back to kind of normal.

My poor Y9s have had their exams postponed twice - there's only so much study one can do before one gets too bored of it all...

I heard that they extended this lockdown due to two cases that later turned out to be a negative result anyway. Go figure...

Cancelled my Friday flight - actually was going to call Amex today but they called me first. +1 for customer service, when the service rep can read your mind before you even pick up the phone!

Problem is, they hold off making official decisions until the last minute. For all we know, the VIC / SA border could be opened on Thursday or something. But you're right - I dare say the 14 day quarantine measures will still be in place over the Queen's birthday long weekend.

And it isn't even her real birthday to boot!
