Australian state border restrictions

are the rapid tests
You will know by now the Govt is completely reactionary to everything

I read somewhere RAT distributors have lots of supply but retailers do not know who the distributors are

The are great at mandates and giving themselves extraordinary powers through legislation but all the time the implementation has been on the wrong side of good.

So, are the rapid tests now kept on the same shelf as the Ad-Blue? Are they readily available in the numbers needed, or is this just another mandate without the supply backup that it needs.
None available here in regional NSW or ACT that I’ve been able to find so not going to bother

Maybe a new thread required where to buy a RAT
Supply will by dynamic. Likely not accurate by the time it’s uploaded to a thread

However before getting a RAT read this

I have told the hospital CEO who is now going to tell Hazzard that hospitals should be supplied with enough RATS so that people seeking regular treatment such a chemo, dialysis, etc can easily get a RAT test without running around town or waiting for a PCR.

RATS should have been supplied firstly to critical health care areas like hospital then to the general public. Hazzard is in a coma.

6day wait for PCR test by friend is over. He is CovidPos. Symptoms - slight runny nose.

I am also informed by the infection people that one of the reasons for delay is that all PCR tests which are positive or marginally positive require a verification by a senior lab tech - which is not a new practice. Apparently and somehow they are in short supply - “holidays, Covid positive, close contact??? Who knows)

So i was second off my flight, there were two officers (didnt identify whether they were QPS or other, plain clothes with a badge similar to what under cover cops have hanging around their neck) at the gate stopping random people to check passes.

Of course passenger in 1A and myself 1K were stopped, only wanted to see pass, not supporting doco and on my way.

Previously in CNS it has been AFP checking border passes.

What airport was this Lynda? I'm flying into OOL. Does anyone know the current procedure there?

Are you sure about that? Seems not right....

Definitely sure - but not this current period. I’ve been through about three times in previous border closures.

Would have been part of the federal government assistance offer including providing ADF. We don’t have many ADF pers in Cairns but we do have AFP.

When I arrived a few days ago there were 3 cops at the main exit just beside the baggage carousels asking everyone to show their border passes. I flashed my phone screen for about half a second and that was it. There was a constant stream of passengers so I doubt they have the time to do a more detailed inspection.

Struggled to find any RAT around Caboolture. Although Costco North Lakes had 2 packs of both nasal and saliva this morning.

So am I correct in my reading that ATM if travelling from Qld to SA no COVID testing is required prior to or on arrival? Thanks

+1 and I have to pay for a test to be guaranteed entry into SA from NSW.
If we go the free PCR test there is no guarantee we will get a result promptly so we could be stuck at the border. Our only choice then is to buy a RAT kit at our own expense and hope it doesn't give a false result. Next issue is to find a chemist in a rural area that has said kit available. Apparently in SYD they are like hens teeth.
And I thought I heard the Emperor of SA state a test before arrival was no longer necessary.

We are flying back today, the PCR test was taken early on Boxing Day, still do not have the results. After calling the SA Covid line the agent advised she did not know what would happen when we arrive in SA, some people are being asked for test results while others are not. We are taking the punt we will get back in one way or another.
