Australian state border restrictions

QLD have said if you arrive by air and don’t have your results back but have evidence you went for a test, you can opt to go into hotel quarantine until your result comes through. At cost though (though normally you only pay if you stay more than 24 hours).

Add to that the good possibility you’ll be waived through or not checked, it’s worth the gamble IMO.

Just heard on ABC that police are standing down border controls tomorrow so reckon you will be fine tonight. 🤞
There was no SAPOL on arrival that I noticed, when walking up to the gate I could see the barrier and thought coughk here we go. When at the arrival gate there were people asking arrivals to check in with the SA health app and asking if you had overseas once done you we were let into the terminal. MissM and I had to call out to MrsM to just come through. Once inside the terminal we just collected our bags and proceeded to the taxi line got in and came home. There was some long snake line all wanting to be tested but why bother, we just ignored this and went home.

@jakeseven7 and @jase05 maybe we will have to catch at some point in the future.

This is the insanity of it. What difference is it any more if you've spent the past 5 or 10 days in London, Bangkok or Sydney?
Old habits are control is hard to give up. Besides, we have to have an enemy which happens to be nasty infected overseas travellers.

Friends came through border tonight. They were waving over NSW plates. Were checked and advised 1 person still waiting on result after 72 hours - showed message re sample. Were asked about vax status and where they were staying. Told the officer they were staying with family. Were let through and told to stay home until they got the result.

Yup totally Officer :)

Zipping down to Tassie they still have their funny little sheds built airside arrival and so many public servants milling around in them looking very bored and texting on their phone, scrolling through instagram.

Jumped up in excitement to scan QR codes. Cursory glance at some people’s ‘test result text’ but absolutely not checking closely.

They were bored out of their brains clearly and more interested in asking about what we did for Christmas. I did politely ask why they were even there and they laughed and said they only get their roster a week in advance and wouldn’t be surprised if it got pulled down soon.

I counted 15 people plus 4 uniformed cops - so the wage bill is going to add up pretty damn fast. Oh and a couple had mask under nose. Brilliant 😂.

(Many passenger just flashed their QR code and marched through without listening to them as well / I assumed they were islanders returning annoyed they had to do it in the first place!)

So again another massive expense and for what exactly I’m unsure….

Down here we are now blaming St.Vincents pathology for the Tassie cases.

Based on what exactly? Sorry honestly dont see too many of the Bondi and Potts Point youth leaving the sunshine to rush to Tassie.

Well it’s official.

So basically no testing required really and certainly no more PCR. A relief for many.

So now we have VIC/NSW/SA/ACT and basically QLD in the no testing pre or post arrival bucket from Jan 1. I expect Tassie will fold soon enough. NT I’ve lost track where they are at?

For someone like me that travels a tonne for work this is fantastic but also great news for everyone!

Queensland's Premier has confirmed travellers from interstate hotspots can use a negative rapid antigen test to cross the border from January 1

So how do you get the RAT results?

If it’s like ADL they don’t even ask. It’s a “honesty” system.
Our work will require a daily RAT from 1/1/22 though
Ok I thought you might have to sms a bar code to a lab or something. Well I still want to do the right thing but good to know you won't be waiting on a negative test response.

Oh goodness no you have an incredibly positive view of the state of public health systems tech in Australia though 😂.

This is why I’ve kept saying all this pre arrival declaration stuff is a complete facade. Nothing is linked and even if it was some authorities do not even have access to check if they wanted to. Just fear and control measures.
