Australian state border restrictions

But the fellow arrived in WA 35 days ago. That is more than 2 14 day quarantine periods. It is not like SA has had a perfect run with HQ although accepting a lot less than NSW has done.
WA? But your timings are out anyway. He arrived into SA and within a week of arrival here he was in hospital and diagnosed with severe covid. He's still in hospital. The next weekend it had spread to a restaurant on Sat night and a winery on the Sunday. The state then went into lockdown around three weeks ago. He got covid either in quarantine, or the hospital or even the taxi on the way to the airport. The flight back to Adelaide was registered as a 1 site and all passengers were tested etc.

Whether or not SA has had a perfect record is kinda irrelevant though.

Sorry SA.It is just for me at the moment SA and WA are interchangeable. ;)
And is he indeed in hospital with severe covid or for covid + co morbidities. He was described as trail and spent 10 days in RPAH after a fall.
And why make people in Sydney HQ do a further 14 day HQ in SA.It is not as though those in Sydney HQ are out and about.A completely ludicrous decision.Even our QLD CHO hasn't gone to those lengths and we have had a few from interstate HQ testing positive on arrival into QLD.The last on the Sunny Coast.

Because it's all or none. We can never find a happy medium these days. All binary again. A fair thing to do would be to have them isolate until a negative test result and repeat it at day 10 but not need to isolate after the first test. Use QR codes. Etc etc. We all have to wear face masks here in SA anyway, with zero community transmission for over 2 weeks now 'just in case'

Did I mention there is an AFL team flying in from Melbourne this weekend to play a footy match in front of 15,000 crowd?

In which case SA has now moved below both QLD and WA.

If had to rate the States on their handling of Covid borbers, it'd be SA-Tas-Vic-NSW. I've left the others out as I haven't travelled to them during Covid.

No energy to even debate you 😆
Not sure how to take that? It's an honest opinion based on experience travelling extensively throughout Covid. SA have been quite hard nosed but they've been fair and consistent. Tasmania have not been unreasonable but are inclined to be OT and stupid about it. Victoria has been unpredictable but generally nice about it. NSW has been.. well NSW. No idea but when they have one, it's the right one!!
I genuinely don't have State or political bias. I really don't care and am just expressing subjective opinion.

I appreciate honest opinions:), but I’m not entirely sure whethe you are ranking from top (best) to bottom, or vice versa. I have seen both approaches here.
cheers skip

COVID-19 vaccinations among measures for NSW travellers set to be unveiled by WA government

WA Health Minister Roger Cook has flagged COVID-19 vaccination requirements will form part of new measures to further tighten the state's hard border with New South Wales.

Premier Mark McGowan, who has been sharply critical of the NSW government's handling of the state's coronavirus outbreak, has also flagged tougher restrictions.

The fear that the mcgowan government has put in some people over there is extreme. Mate of mine went to NZ for a holiday for a fortnight, got back last week.

He is currently still off work because the boss has been stupidly talked in to keeping him off the roster by a colleague, who is scared my mate may have the virus. From NZ. He has been told to get a negative test before he returns. Ridiculous stuff.

Don't bother McGowan. I am fully vaccinated but have long since lost interest in visiting the Hermit Kingdom.

Pity that fear over the need for hard borders has not translated into vaccinations as WA is still spluttering along in last place 🤪

Pity fear is not translated into building new (at least makeshift) hospitals, investing in medical equipment and oxygen production kits, medical personnel training.
because that is exactly why McGowan soooo much horrified of virus jumping the border - he knows that WA health system would collapse in a matter of days in case of developments similar to NSW.
It already has with major hospitals declaring code yellow even with zero covid on the state.

We need to get to the point where people that are fully vaccinated can travel with no permit or a more or less automatic permit in such a scenario. If that happens that may encourage more people to get vaccinated.

Yep WA is on my no-fly list as well.
In fairness, they are only doing what the population wants. I'm in Tasmania and if I went down to the local shopping centre and started asking people whether they thought we should open the Tasmanian border, there'd be very few who'd be in favour. I strongly suspect there'd be a small but significant number who'd be in favour of shutting all Tasmanian airports and laying up the Spirit(s) for the duration.
