MEL J lounge looks the same to me. I'm starting to think the new food offerings might be OK. They seem to have improved a bit over the past weeks. And here is an item I can't recall seeing before in MEL:

I havent noticed anything different in the SYD Business lounge.

There appear to be more staff doing the rounds though.

In the SYD Qantas Lounge my drink was cleared from desktops and I was asked if I wanted anything else. Staff wandering around the SYD business lounge as well so I am assuming the same sort of service.

I am wondering how long this type of service will last.

Now that the J Lounges have reopened after closure for maintenance, when do the QPs close for their maintenance? :p

hot pulled pork bread rolls with lettuce mayonaise and pickled cucumber in the syd j lounge now. being assembled live at the buffet. very nice. one of the nicest things I've had in here.

Too bad they discontinued the island dining, I really liked the concept.

Island dining - at least the napkins and cutlery - were all set out in CBR J lounge at noon today. Not sure if there was a menu or not.

Super rare that the CL is used as an alternative lounge for general (non-CL) pax - it has happened in ADL once to my knowledge, quite some years ago.

Will not state which airport but was CL was given in Jan 2014 to a very close friend (Not CL but P1) and travel companion. The only problem 15 min access but time enough for one good Champers.

Interesting they're only offering this in CBR... was certainly not offered this at BNE/MEL on any of my flights recently.

BNE did give out Jlounge invite to a friend of mine (travelling J) who also got one for me (which was useless) valid til 30/12/2014. Although male at counter said "No" but young female went hunting and found passes - if I find mine will post picture.

I know of someone on this forum who managed CL access twice in the last few weeks.

It's not that hard to get access to a CL, provided you actually know a CL whose coat-tails you can ride lol. It's how I went behind the frosted glass a few times (and got to see how the Airport Duty Manager meet and greet worked), the only other time was that one late night flight from ADL back in the noughties, where our small J party was invited to use the CL because the QP was closed (there wasn't any CL in our party so technically we should have had no CL access at all). Lots of people have been travelling when a QP or J lounge have been closed though, but I've not heard of CL invites being routinely provided, even if requested, in such circumstances.

I'd say if it does happen to you, make the most of it - it's something I wouldn't count on in similar future situations. The CLs are nice, but the domestic CLs aren't heaps fancier than the J lounges - it's not like the difference between the MEL & SYD International J lounges and the MEL & SYD International F lounge.

It was enhanced to a by request situation when Accor took over in SYD. Can't check until next week but I hope that will remain the case.

I must say that even the standard QP has had better levels of service of late.

In my experience, ADL & BNE have both had excellent staff walking up to me and my family as I entered and I was offered coffee. Once seated staff regularly visited our tables, I was offered new food that was brought around by staff, staff also cleared dishes and offered new beverages. Very different and much better level of service than before.

Please keep it up QF!

It is good to see some familiar faces as well.

In Sydney J lounge yesterday. The spruce up must have missed the water damage to the ceilings along the eastern side windows. Me thinks that the cost cutting theory is correct.

Perhaps next time a photo of the damage (and asking for an explanation) sent to RedRoo as a PM may do the trick!;)

Red Roo reads this and I am not going to make it a Federal Case over some missing paint on a ceiling. Red Roo doesn't owe me an explanation and is not in my opinion directly accountable for minor maintenance issues. The comment was made as an observation to support what some other people were saying on this forum. The condition of the ceiling had no impact on my customer experience.
