You can use the voucher as soon as payment for it has been taken and you have arrived at the final screen showing the voucher number.

Yes and no.

The vouchers, even when issued without incident, still sometimes can take a few minutes to become available to "redeem" (eg: you can take the PNR from the voucher confirmation page, go to "Redeem Voucher" and get a message about processing). Normally this only takes a minute or two, but sometimes the vouchers can get stuck in limbo (see other posts on this)

I usually give it 2 minutes and go to redeem myself.

You can almost always access a voucher before the email arrives :)

YMMV

I must've been lucky each and every time then. Never had any issues redeeming right away after obtaining the voucher number.

I've had a few instances where they could not be redeemed immediately, but it was only a short wait.

Re: 10 pts / $ for Qantas Vouchers - Back for Xmas 2014

Thats cough, anyway 5:1 better to nothing but I like to use my business direct account tho. 5-10% off my flights is better than 5 poing to $1 =]

Re: 10 pts / $ for Qantas Vouchers - Back for Xmas 2014

I expect we will purchase a voucher or two. Previous years we have bought them for MIL and FIL to enable (force?) them to visit their grandchildren. They don't play the game properly and book any flight. I doubt that they even subscribe to the QF emails and therefore don't book when on sale. It's not worth hearing the whinging about the cost of their flight for only 5pts/$.

I've started purchasing some vouchers for next years travels. I tried adding them to "My bookings" going through Air Berlin or BA as in previous years, but it seems to no longer work. Anyone found a solution to show them in your QFF account?
Cheers, and compliments of the season to all.

you can call and QF can just add your FF# in and "link" them thusly. I had an agent do it for me on his own accord - as in he just took the initiative and said "I'll just link these to your account too.." and I didn't ask. I thought that was very nice and helpful.

Sorry if my question has already been answered, but I haven't read all 14 pages of this thread.

I was just wondering if you could use the vouchers to pay all, or part, of the surcharge you have to pay, when buying a classic award seat (with points, of course).

No .

Has anyone had issues with the time its taken to be issued lately? I had one that hadn't been issued in over an hour and I rang up and had it cancelled (I need to make the booking I bought the voucher for ASAP).

I just went back and bought another and it still hasn't been issued. Normally all mine have been issued in the space of a few minutes after purchasing.

Did you receive a voucher reference number after completing the purchase? If so you can normally redeem it very soon after, without having to wait for the actual voucher PDF to be emailed to you.

Yes - I purchased one about 5.30pm tonight in Sydney and it was only processed at 8.30pm, so 3 hours before I could use it. In the past I have found I could log straight in and use it, but not tonight!

I received PNRs straight away in both instances. I might give it a few more hours before calling them again. Thank you!
