Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

Alcohol now being hit in NSW and Vic at concerns that bottle ships won't be deemed an essential service

I'm told my butcher was opened today but he's usually closed on Sunday.

Display case looked bare, which I've not heard of in the 20yrs I've shopped there.

Sister told me her husband raced out for beer when I texted her about lock downs. She doesn't follow the news much.

I don't have any mirrors. I have no desire to see my ugly mistake of a face. o_O:oops:

Still nearly sold out of meat/chicken etc when I left.
People still don't understand what limits mean, nor can they read.

*see customer with 4 bottles of milk in trolley*
"there's a limit of 2 bottles"
"really? since when?"
"since Thursday. There are notices up on every milk shelf."
"... oh"
*customer goes back to milk and looks at notice, then sheepishly returns some bottles*

Had TP when I got to work this morning. Every customer for the first hour had a pack, then no one did.

This has also been common:
"Do you have any mince out the back?"
"There is no meat out the back"
"... then do you have any beef?"
"o.O. There is no meat out the back"
"what about po..."
"The only meat in the store is on the shelf"

Work didn't feel as crazy today as it has been this past week. But then that was before the statements from the NSW and VIC governments this afternoon.

So SA has done border control rather than the emergency services shut down. Interesting. Maybe we just need to keep all the pesky interstaters out! Does doing a shop at Dans tomorrow count as hoarding?

The liquor stores started getting hit earlier this week. The local Dan Murphy's store manager was in my store a few days ago and said it was getting insane over there as well.

The staff are just generally tired. It's getting close to 3 weeks of this insanity.
At least there are some nice customers out there.
A random customer gifted the staff at work with a trolley load of pizza for lunch today.

I thought about doing something for my local Coles but worried about the shared eating situation.

I did make sure to make eye contact and say thank you, you guys are doing great but that's not enough

Will admit, was a bit concerned about soap but thanks to Hubbys hoarding tendencies, he had a unopened 5 pack in his swim bag.

I found unopened mouth wash and soap.
Nothing the least bit pristine in his bag. I zipped it up again. He will have to clear it out as no more gym in the foreseeable future. Maybe he can cultivate some penicillin in there.

We have some roquefort penicillin at our house if you don't have any luck!

I always thought Gerry Harvey was a dinosaur because he disliked online so much so had a small smirk at that.

Wonder if Bunnings can go 100% click and collect but have to stay in your car/direct to boot

It’s been annoying me for a long time that Bunnings doesn't do online.
