Don't transfer points (Velocity Email)

It seems like everyone is pretty underwhelmed by this promotion, and that's fair enough given the ultra high transfer amounts required to unlock the higher-tier bonuses.

I guess I can't complain in my particular case - it would have taken me 13 years to do this the old fashioned way with the 138k cap:

With regards to the 100k bonus (where 20% of 1.91m should be more like 380k), I suspect their system has a hardcoded cap (I imagine they didn't expect many, if any >2m FB transfers) so I'll be following up after a few days if the rest of the bonus don't auto-post.

The velocity site is now experiencing some difficulties - I imagine it's being overloaded. Might have spillover effects to FB (and/or FB itself is being overloaded...)

I've taken myself out of refreshing, so there's one connection freed up.

Nice bonus. I would have been in the same boat and needed >10 years to transfer all my points in my balance, not to mention all the points coming in, Instead I've been using FB points to buy Y tickets as I figured I'd never be able to transfer them quick enough. Hindsight's a b****

I'm still frustrated CBA is not included again. All my other points balances are so low I would only get 15% bonus. So this is just a regular 15% promo for me. I wonder why CBA wouldn't play ball with these promos.

Ah don't beat yourself up. I would have done the same at some point; fortunately I got the 4m+ FB windfall only a few months ago, so the temptation hadn't fully taken me over. I was also hoping for EY as an escape route, so that stayed my hand.

CBA's CCs these days are just...terrible across the board (notwithstanding some niche use cases).

Wow, that is definitely a big system glitch. (some people would be booking first class tickets so great that you're honest?) The promotion goes until end of the month so i guess you could transfer any time or is there a limit that i missed?

Thanks

I'm not sure I understood your question...

The usual 138k FB -> VF cap has been removed for this month, which allowed me to dump my entire FB balance into VF.
The bonus points awarded should have been 382k, but I only got 100k. I suspect this is a system cap on VF's side.
VA doesn't have a F product, so not sure what you meant by F bookings.

I'm tempted at 40% for amex but still think there is just as good value going to SPG (and already have a few mil with velocity anyway with no redemptions in the near future). That said anyone dumping a swag of points outa amex?

50% for ANZ I'll be emptying my account out there though.

Overall pretty average but some sweet spots for some. Flybuys 20% for the masses is great.

I'm leaving my MR stash untouched. Let's put it this way: dumping them into VF nets you 40%, cool. You're 5% up with respect to converting them to KF directly from MR. However, you lose the flexibility of sending them elsewhere, which to me isn't worth the 5% bonus. All other transfer partners remain unchanged, so they don't have an impact on my decision.

The only reason I can think of taking advantage of this 'bonanza' and dumping MR into VF now is if you have a ton of VF-related redemptions coming up, and/or SQ that requires more VF than you currently have. However, you mentioned you have 'a few mil' with VF with no redemptions, so that can't be an incentive. Ergo, there's pretty much no reason to act on this promo from a MR perspective.

And yeah, SPG :D

Ok, totally ignore my post! :) I read it wrong. I thought velocity accidentally gave you over a million worth of points by transferring 100k. You have a lot of points. :)

If that happened, I wouldn't report it lest it be 'fixed' ;););)

It's a bit hard to calculate as the bonus is only based on what Virgin gives you in VFF points, not your points balance. I was excited at first but then I have to check the redemption rate for a credit card that is dormant now but has 180K points (Suncorp Visa). I vaguely recall that it was probably better for me to convert my points on this card directly to Kris Flyer as they did 1:1 but I'm not sure.

Thanks. Pretty much nailed my thinking. Additionally I don't mind my points spread around a bit as who knows a Velocity devaluation could be just around the corner. Perfect time just after a record breaking point transfer promotion....

Indeed, in fact every time VFF runs a promo like this, it's in effect causing a points devaluation...

But if they don't run the promo they fall behind in the eyes of many. It's just the way they all do business IMHO.

AA, QF, Hilton etc all run these type of promos all the time.

When a corporation buys their alcohol from LiquorLand and your flybuys card number got "accidentally attached" to the account.

This is so annoying! Why is Westpac not included again? I’ve have been waiting and waiting to transfer my Westpac Altitude point over for over a year now and every time Velocity have a promotion, it excludes Westpac cards.
I have 2.5 mil Altitude points and want to use for business flights to Europe from Sydney. Any suggestions?
