I've missed out again.

Well at least I have an unbroken record of missing out every year :D

I turned off my AdBlocker to see it, but couldn’t. Nothing for me, though I got the email.

Having trouble attaching a screen shot, but it is definitely there, once logged in on my FF summary page.

Double SC Promo

I can't click on the "More Detail" button though, can you?

Probably doesn't appear on everyone's log in page, not on Shrek's ( he had 50% -100% after survey) does appear on mine (100% no survey). Link does not open as above -must be the QF IT gremlins at work again ;)

Hmmm... seems kinda dumb if it's targetted at those of us who received the emails and accepted. Because you would think that we'd already "found out how"

What is the 50% + survey of which you speak? Did I miss something?

You seem to have it in for people that obtain status via cheap status runs, or, those who want status for the heck of it. I see no problem in any of the ways of obtaining any status level, so long as it meets your requirements.

Your terminology is a little harsh. Do you resent people who obtain status cheaply as opposed to those who do 2100 SC's on MEL-SYD-MEL in discount whY 3 times a week? Considering we're a unified group of 'frequent flyers' here, I would have thought that there should have been some more loving than hating around here :)

Au contraire - it was JohnK who was lambasting this promotion as a slap in the face for those WPs who had truly "earned it", not me.

Anyway - cheap or expensive or self-funded or companied-paid ... I have never taken a flight I didn't need to and never will. Status should be a consequence of travel not an end in itself, but whilst in the asylum I suppose I have to expect madness to be the norm so I don't make a big thing of it. Most times anyway.

Well yes it does. - and it is not the lotto , I am not betting on any winnings , I think very member at their respective levels (status's) should be treated the same, given similar products , offers , opportunities ... treating them any different without justification is not right... is it good ethical / transparent practice ??

Just my angry / frustrated opinion.

Hmm - so you'd be equally happy if they just cancelled the promotion for everyone who did get invited?

Also, should every other business be barred from offering deals to people they think might be good customers?

These kinds of promo's are generally (where the correct process is put in place) targetting specific members (or groups) where the business (QF) believes they can best obtain benefits (read profits), whilst at the same time there is a corresponding win/win for the client/customer/member (increased status credits/status uplift).

Don't forget, the average travelling public doesn't look laterally at these kind of offers to "squeeze the lemon", as we may do.

Now, just what information they (QF) use to work out who is on the list, sometimes is a bit nebulous ;).

Heh ... nebulous is the word, right enough! With one minor exception, my partner and I have travelled together at all times during the last year. The only flights we have currently booked on QF are a handful of Red e-Deals in March, April and May 2011.

Because of differing membership years, I scraped over the line to Platinum in October, while she lingers on Gold. I received the offer; she did not.

I would have given them business out of the ordinary , advance a few of my trips , and added a few extra ones in the mix as well ( which i don't see happening right now)

Sadly , " i am not a selected customer "

Hello Oneworldplus2

Exciting news! For a limited time, we’re offering you the opportunity to earn DOUBLE STATUS CREDITS* on eligible Qantas International flights^.

Make the most of this fantastic offer so you can continue to enjoy the benefits and privileges of your existing membership level. Plus, as a Platinum member, you could be on your way to an even greater range of rewards
# if you reach 2,400 Status credits this membership year.
I'm tossing up weather to do a SC Run. BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN is coming up at decent pricing ($650 in Jan - including MEL-SYD DOM J sectors). Seems l was looking in the wrong place before this typo. My bad.

True. A very, very few wannabees will be able to reduce their scum runs as they will obtain their hearts desire with less travel. I suppose that's a good thing (though JohnK and Qantas probably don't agree).
I am honoured to be named in your post but I am a little confused. Are you saying I do not agree with less flying?

Au contraire - it was JohnK who was lambasting this promotion as a slap in the face for those WPs who had truly "earned it", not me.
Yes I did say that and I also said that it was a slap in the face for the loyal customers that did not receive the promotion or the loyal customers that did receive the promotion but have existing bookings in the system.

I have received the promotion and have existing bookings in the system but have Platinum status covered without the promotion so QF will not be getting any extra money from me.

The AA idea sounds great to me. Double SCs? Send the promotion to everyone then everyone is happy.

I'm surprised by the angst over this promo by the have nots. It's not as if the promo is especially useful being only for international travel. I don't recall any similar angst over the last two double SC promos that were for all travel. Sure at the time I might have said words about not getting it, but the reality at the time was that I was already booked so couldn't have used it anyway - something I probably would have admitted at the time as well.

The same is the case now - I'm booked! Another case where I should have listened to my wife - she who knows all - and waited. But I didn't. Even with the cheap airfares from SIN I can't see the value in nesting my existing booking to at least get say 3 ADL-SIN or v.v return. Might look into it. Also tempted to see if QF82/81 ADL/SYD will be double as well.

Anyway for anyone upset at not getting the promo I'm sorry. But ask your self if you didn't know about the promo or there was no promo how would it affect you. It wouldn't you'd do the flying you were going to do anyway. The fact that other people have got lucky and won the Qantas promo lotto is not a reason to get upset. Next time you might get lucky.

Agree. Can look at it like a lottery...:-|
