Double SC Promo [December 2010]

Better put the flak jacket on Sam, claiming 10000 frequent flyer points as being minimal on AFF is akin to slandering someone ;), and its closer to 15K than 10 as a WP:

  • 3500 for the domestic sectors
  • 4376 for the international milage
  • 1094 for the international cabin bonus
  • 4376 for the WP bonus
This is probably trivial and it is getting late so I am probably missing some key information here but how do you get 3,500 QFF points for the domestic sectors? Isn't it 1,250 QFF points minimum for domestic business class between SYD-MEL, SYD-BNE and MEL-BNE?

So I would have expected 2,500 QFF points, 3,750 QFF points or 5,000 QFF points depending on the number of domestic sectors. The post that samh004 was quoting mentioned BNE-MEL//SYD-MEL-BNE as the domestic sectors so wouldn't that be 3,750 QFF points for the domestic sectors?

You are right JohnK, it is trivial, at it's 3750, Does not change the picture too much.

To be fair I plucked 5000 out of the air as the 4 domestic sectors appears to be the best routing. It would be less worth the SC’s and points missing out other sectors.

I was slightly wrong on the total points, though not off by much and I still reckon $1300/15,000 points isn’t as good as $89/16,000 points, at least for most on this board. Sc’s are a different matter, but then SC’s aren’t points.

I just booked a business class BNE-MEL-NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE from 21/1/11 to 24/1/11 for $1315.

Depart BNE 09:55, Arrive Mel 13:15, go to First Lounge, Depart MEL 23:00, 2 nights in Nadi then back to BNE via SYD.

If anyone wants to join me, le me know.

I didn't receive the double SC offer this time, but did last time and did the Nadi run...

MEL-NAN is a good sector foggerADL. It comes in at 2403miles on Great Circle Mapper, so 100sc. I haven't been able to snag the return sector (NAN-MEL) + a good price yet.

Pls tell me I’m not mad before I need to Bpay it by 2400 tonite. Anyone see a problem with any of the connections??

This will result in WP requalification in May, 5 months early:mrgreen::)

Addendum: Never been to Nadi before...maybe I should have one full day there to look around....anything worthwhile to see / do in 1 day (inexpensively, of course as this is a staus run after all;))?

Its 1300 for 20000 with the loyalty bonus, sure it's not much compared to opening a credit card but it's available to everyone, comes with meals and drinks and is not a once only use offer, and you get to have an experience, I am long past thinking a new card is an experience worth having.

Looks good. If I decide to jump on board this promotion then I’ll also be on those flights most likely, but I’m still not sure.

Also tempted to see if QF82/81 ADL/SYD will be double as well.

That's an interesting idea.. especially for those of us doing SYD-ADL anyway.
If the system only looks at flight numbers it might work.. tho I suspect it's smarter than that (or at least has exceptions coded in).

Webflyer says 2400 miles though, which makes it 80. There is a history of QF lengths differing slightly from GC/MM. Can anyone confirm what QF credits MEL-NAN as?

Your right jpk. My mistake!

I've flown this before and can confirm it posts to QF as over 2400 miles.

I agree, hence I'm not rushing out to book anything. If the flights were excluded at least it is a chance to visit the F lounge.

Is there a way to check which promotion one is on? Some appears to have double everything but I have a feeling mine is just for international flights only.

ok so just booked my flights back from Nadi through the qantas fiji web portal. when i selected my flights they were all with QF flight numbers, but now i go in to look at the booking and my nan-syd leg shows a FJ flight number - will I still get double sc's?

i booked the flights as both one ways so i could do bne-mel-syd-nan nan-syd-mel-bne all in J

Why would an FJ flight number on FJ aircraft receive double SCs on a QFF promotion?

How restrictive are these airfares? Is it possible to change free of charge? I would not risk it....
