Double SC Promo [December 2010]

She is correct, and depending on the time of year the fare would be right as well, discount business at $649 each way is only available on limited seats, not for every J seat.

As for the SCs, its 80 each way which is doubled if you got the promo, travelling via BNE and MEL to NAN through SYD is a lot more often for the same fare.

Thanks Mark,

I have seen some replies that have said that there are more status credits for this run??

I cant remember specifics but i have seen mentioned 400 - 500 SC.

Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Thanks.

Normal SCs are:

BNE-MEL 60
MEL-SYD 40
SYD-NAN 80

Thats 360 return, if you are on the double SC promo then its 520 in total.

Sorry mate - I must be thick.

I am not getting the math on this at all?

Can you check those figures again?

BNE-MEL 100
MEL-SYD 40
SYD-NAN 80

This totals 220 - so double would 440 correct?

so were does the 580 come from??

Thanks.

Hi to all,

I just rang qantas to ask about the SC i would earn for Sydney - Nadi return and the girl told me 160!

I would like to know if this is correct?

She also told me the fare was $2,800.00

I would like to use this offer of double credits so if anyone can clarify this for me I really would appreciate it.

Thanks.

I just did a quick check on some random dates in feb and it seems available at 1330. You can do a J ASA SYD-BNE beginning and end. I would take an overnight in Melbourne though and not leave BNE at 5AM...

NAN run.JPG

With JASA and double SC's this would net you 600SC's

My maths is shocking this morning, need a coffee, I have just edited the post, its 360 normally, with the double SC on international flights its adding an extra 160 for a total of 520. If you want to do it as a SC run its possible to do it without an overnight:
BNE-MEL 60
MEL-NAN 100 (200)
NAN-SYD 80 (160)
SYD-MEL 40
MEL-BNE 60

Total 340 or 520 with the double INT SCs.

You only get the double SC's on international flights.

Book online via QF.com.

Go to international multicity and put in BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN. Note that you can't have more than two flights on the same date but I was OK with a Sunday flight BNE-MEL then working the rest a few days later.

To book the whole thing online add some additional flight sectors and then input the NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE legs.

It should come to around $1300 for the round trip. You may need to play with dates to get the price down. Midweek flights will also work better than weekends.

You can get around these two flights a day if you do first flight BNE MEL then MEL NAN and take the flight via SYD. Same on the return...

Im trying to see if I can make an itinerary that would net 700 SC's, can easily do 520 for the BNE-NAN J run and would get 30 SC's flying to BNE from MEL on a red e deal.

Would require another 150 SC's then to qualify for gold.

Hi millie,

Looks like you have your finger on the pulse!

Can you let me know what JASA means??

Also I live in Sydney so how does in work?

It sounds great but I am totally confused.

Thanks in advance!!

JASAs SYD BNE are not the best value, unless you take QF20.........., note a JASA CBR-SYD-BNE is often a better alternative.

Just started using the J ASA's and status runs myself thanks to AFF and should this year qualify for WP

A J ASA is a J Any Seat Award, these earn miles and SC's. As Markis10 pointed out it would be best to start the trip in CBR. Either drive (cheap parking at CBR) or take a red e-deal and then a J ASA to BNE via SYD

(SYD-CBR red e-deal 10SC's)
CBR-SYD-BNE JASA 80SC's
BNE to NAN run at 520SC's
BNE-SYD-CBR JASA 80SC's
(CBR-SYD red e-deal 10SC's)

So if you do SYD CBR on red e-deal you will net 700SC's and if not 680SC

Hi Millie,

Well you have it worked out for sure!

Do you mean that the JASA is actually an award seat that I pay for using points and not money?

Also can you advise how you can get 520 status credits for Brisbane - Nadi return??

Many thanks for your insight and great help.

Ok so adding CBR to the mix might work then.

MEL-CBR 10 SC's $85 (Red e-deal)
CBR-SYD-BNE (JASA) 80 sc's
BNE-MEL-NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE 520 SC's (J Class)
BNE-SYD-CBR (JASA) 80 sc's
CBR-MEL 10 SC's $85 (Red e-deal)

Ok so only issue is that the flight from MEL-BNE on the return leg arrives at BNE at 1815 and getting flights back to MEL via SYD and CBR are an issue

Edit: Opps, fogot that no SC's earned on Classic award. Thought something was wrong!

MEL-CBR 10 SC's $85 (Red e-deal)
CBR-SYD-BNE 24000 80 SC's (JASA)

BNE-SYD-CBR 24000 points 80 SC's (JASA)
CBR-MEL 10 SC's $85 (Red e-deal)
700 SC's for $1500 and 48000 points.

How can you book BNE-MEL-NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE 520 SC's (J Class)

Isn't some of this classed as domestic??

Yes, but if you break it down you’ll see the total earned only doubles the international sectors. The domestic sectors earn at the same rate, but they cost no more if you don’t fly them, so you may as well include them ;)

The usual one way routing is worth 360SC’s, so doubling it if domestic sectors were eligible for the double SC’s would be 720SC, not 520SC ;)

If you go to award bookings on the QF website and start making an itinerary you have to select Qantas Any Seat Award. The JASA's are often (more domestic) the normal reward number of points with a small cash payment.

As you mentioned you received the doucle SC promo the SYD-NAN gets double
BNE-MEL 60SC
MEL-SYD 40SC
SYD-NAN 160SC (80 normally x2)
NAN-SYD 160SC (80 normally x2)
SYD-MEL 40SC
MEL-BNE 60SC

The easiest website to do status credit calculations (which I found in a previous thread on AFF) is milleagemonkey. Just put the routing in the Oneworld Explorer Validator, tick Ignore errors and Go!

This trip including the positioning JASA is instant SG

Happy travels!
