Strange day today in MEL at the bowsers. 7 eleven kept their prices low and as a result WW Fuels lowered their prices from $1.50 to $1.36. I had to fill at that price before Easter, not to mention to get the points!

Got we miss you offer of 300 points for $50 dollar spend.

Woolies sell fresh fish?!

The Woollies definition of fresh fish is "not in a tin". :)

Or imported from Vietnam and then thawed

Prior to last week I had never bought from the "fresh" seafood section at Woolies. On occasion I'd bought the shrink wrapped live mussels when they were on special but never any fresh fish / prawns etc.
Walking past last week they had school prawns for $4.99/kg with some tasters out the front with serviettes. They were some of the sweetest and freshest Australian prawns I've come across. Most certainly they were the small schoolies but at $4.99/kg they were an absolute steal.

I picked up about 1.2kg from memory costing a bit over $6.

After buying them and having an amazing lunch, I noticed that evening others were reporting a new offer of $10 seafood spend for 100 points, which I did not receive... until today.

Now to hope they have as good a deal this week!

not sure if this deserves a new thread/ has been mentioned - i have zero interest in reading 575 pages :) , however i received a $30 cash for easter gift card today in the mail. valid until 28 April. not sure how/ why. i haven't set up an online account but pretty happy to receive. i mainly do homeshop so perhaps linked to that.

cheers

Not sure if I am going off topic here BUT, here goes.
Is it just me or are Coles (and to a lesser extent) Woolies getting rid of independent brands from their shelves?
I notice that cheese for example in Coles is lacking in range, still pretty good over at Woolies
In spite of the lack of convenience with Woolies I am now moving the bulk of my shopping across ( EDR points not withstanding) .
I would be interested to know if this differs from store to store

WOW are the masters....they copy everything from Wallmart & Tesco. The last original thought WOW had - was opening a store.

100 bonus points for $10 of fresh meat offer for me this evening. First offer in over 4 weeks here. This is an easy one for us to add to the point collection.

Yet they let their biggest rival to buy one of their most profitable stores.

Coles buys profitable Woolworths store - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Neutral Bay was my local for 20 years.....one of the biggest over-traders WOW have. So much so - they brought the old Franklins shopping centre across the road (Military Rd) & opened another one.

Coles being the landlord gets to see the numbers & control the lease.....very funny. I can see many landlords being offered a truck load of money in the coming months.

Coles reviewed their books prior to purchase & highlighted 120 stores with vulnerable leases.......these stores have a combined sales total of 3 billion pa....interesting times ahead for 120 landlords!

There was a promotion last month where you had to spend a certain amount for 3 consecutive to receive a gift card for Easter. There were various spends required and the one for the $30 gift card was for $150 spend every week for 3 weeks.

Perhaps you received e-mail and activated it or perhaps you were automatically enrolled in the promotion. I am also waiting for my $30 Easter gift card.

I took up that one and the meat was cough. Complained and now I will get a refund, replacement and the 100 points, win I suppose.

I wonder if this squeezing out of the independent brands ( by Coles and wow) will see the rise of IGA to greater prominence?
