EK upgrade "Love" on QF / EK coded flights - success rate?

I have an upcoming EK flights from DXB to MAN, QF coded. As my outgoing trip is ARM-SYD-DXB-MAN, am I less likely to be upgraded for the DXB-MAN leg checking in at ARM, rather than at an EK agent in DXB? All other flights on QF.

If you miss out at check-in, a lot of upgrades seem to be done at the gates for European flights.

Your right is saying that the EK flights Trans-Tasman are rarely full, although I am aware of a MEL > AKL ( EK A380) being oversold by 19 last year and as a result some passengers had to be upgraded to J.

The checkin agent who told me this, said that the chosen passengers who are upgraded were understandably quite delighted on scoring an upgrade :)

Righto - might have to hope for a heavier than usual load when I head home on Friday, as the usual crowd heads over from AKL to SYD, bolstered by folks heading across for Saturday night's Bledisloe Cup match in Sydney.

There were are few beeps and red lights ahead of me on boarding today, but I think they were more changes to allocated seats, rather than class. Only looked to be about 60-70% in Y.

I can't really complain with an empty middle on the A380 for a 2.5 hour flight. Chalk and cheese when compared to a full QF 738!

Cheers,
Matt.

What are the chances of op-ups happening for EK413/QF8413 on 05/08/15? Loads:

I've got an AKL-MEL EK flight coming up booking on a QF ticket and wondering what the chances of an upgrade were, knowing the pretty low loads on these routes ( QF SG)

When booking my flights, the QF system must have been having a stuff up as there were no J seats on the flight, however they were back online the next day... Now 4 weeks out from the flight the fares have increased a fair bit and not really wanting to pay QF change fees etc.

I called Emirates requesting to pay for an upgrade but as expected due to it being QF ticketed they couldn't help me.. Usually not one to hope for or ask for an upgrade but hoping this one might happen... Maybe ask to pay something to upgrade at check in?

Good chance. You'll more than likely need much higher status than Silver to be hopeful though.

There was a QF/EK sale a couple of weeks ago which may explain the "price rise" you see.

Y to J upgrade at the gate 22nd Aug DXB to BRU
Ditto last month KUL to MEL and last year DXB to NCE.
So this SG is getting some of the EK upgrade love! All on QF coded flights, in all cases the Y cabin was full though.
Fingers crossed for the return flights next week but EF shows pretty open Y cabins HAM-DXB-MEL

Gate upgrade x 2,for DXB - CDG leg from Y to J. Wife no status, l'm QF gold.
This was on EK tix/flt. Crew passed comment that it would be nice if I considered EK for my flying in future. (4th J EK upgrade in 2yrs)
Flight was oversold in Y so guess this helped us.
Wife really enjoyed upgrade! Nice start to holiday in France.

Have had an incredible run this year.. QF Plat.. have done 7 EK flights so far this year, booked in J. Have been upgraded (Op up) to F 3 times.. twice as many flights on QF, and zero Op Ups.... interesting

Probably flown 6-8 times with EK only across the ditch since QF EK Alliance- received my first upgrade from Y to J last week when traveling Mel-Alk.

Have had several upgrades with Emirates. Hoping for one this Christmas to keep the love happening.

no love again this past week MEL-AKL paid J (but it was fairly empty to be fair).

crew were incredible though and lovely to me. Worked the return flight (I was in F already on sale fare) and were spectacular to me because it was my birthday. A really great crew

Yep. An upgrade from J to F on 27th Dec - Adelaide to Dubai. The original J tickets were 2 classic award tickets so pretty much free F seats. Around $26,000 if purchased. So far of our five flights with Emirates, four have been upgraded. ❤️ Emirates.

no love for me on EK406 MEL-AKL (booked J on a super SUPER cheap fare - $440 for J). Anyway J was pretty full but that's OK.

Of note the CSM appeared and welcomed me as a QF Platinum then quipped "I hope you like Emirates too!" - I think he was trying to suggest I head over to Skywards or something. I just said I enjoy the always good service on EK and he let it go.

always good service on EK? Thats laughable (in my experience).

OpUps on trans tasman just aren't as common as elsewhere in the network, flights are rarely full.
