Hi all, I'm travelling as a Velocity Gold member on EY461 3 Jan 2015 to AUH and then onto AMS. I've looked but I cant find if Etihad have a Melbourne Lounge and I understand that I can use the Etihad Lounge in AUH on arrival as a Gold member, is this correct? Thank you for your assistance.

Etihad do not have a MEL lounge at the moment. Unsure if they are still using the Koru (NZ) lounge?

Thanks for responding to a posters query EY rep - input from airlines is indeed important - if only a few other alleged top tier carriers were similarly active.

Looks like this has a timeframe now - first quarter of 2016 - the below was in the A380 news article from earlier today in The Age:

"Etihad also plans to open its own lounge in Melbourne Airport. An Etihad spokesman said it was expected to open in the first quarter of next year, ahead of the arrival of the A380, to bring additional luxury to its product on the ground."

There seems to be some new space up near where I think the Qantas First and Emirates lounges are, so I am not sure if they are going in there. A couple of years ago it was suggested they would be setting up in between Gates 18 and 20, but there is no obvious space there unless they created a new deck at the arrivals level.

I thought NZ was going up there...

Note sure where such space would be - from what I can tell, the First and Emirates lounges with their kitchens take up the space they built on top of the existing building back in 2006/2007.

I suspect it would be the old UA space as per CE's suggestion.

There is definitely a new space upstairs; TomVexille knows more about it than me.

Maybe they are building it; the space built in 2006/07 was more of a tack on to the end and on top of the existing main international terminal building:

Surly they would have it timed to open just before the 1st of June 2016 when they have announced the A380 for Melbourne?

That would make sense.

That's correct. They have developed the rest of the level that the QF F and EK lounge is on. I was there when it was a construction site in January so I suspect that they would be in fit-out stage by now. No idea who gets the space though. I did hear a rumour that it was going to be NZ, but that's a long time ago.
