1. It will be printed on the bag tag

2. They will get nothing, basically their product is QP membership and that's it. They want access to the lounge, they have got it by paying for it. That's it. Obviously they don't travel that much otherwise they would be atleast silver.

That's interesting. One of the stated benefits of QP membership (paid or otherwise) is priority baggage on domestic flights.

Here's a question (that I know no one will be able to answer right now):

I didn't receive the email (haven't been to Perth in a while), but have just ticked over to WP.

Will newly qualified / requalifying QFF members who are sent new cards receive Q-chipped cards, or will they simply send out another batch of new cards when they finally get around to setting up NGCI at SYD?

Anyone received one yet?

My guess is that you'll get a regular non-chipped card unless you were "invited" to participate in the trial (i.e. you got the email). If you did get invited, my guess is that you'll probably get two cards (one regular and one chipped).

Has anyone received their new QF chip card yet?

No, although I'd think that at the rate we know QF (or any large organisation) works with these things, I think it's rather premature to expect a new chip card so soon after the trial announcement.

Perhaps tomorrow or early next week, but I'm sure that it's not a bad bet that no one will get a new card in time for the trial's first date.

No risk of that - the only thing Qantas invites me to is fill my inbox with useless non-beneficial spam. ;)

I have not been to PER for some years. Hence it is little surprise that I did not receive an invitation.

Members of Qantas Club are entitled to:

Access to the Club.
Priority Baggage.
Priority Check In.
Seating Preference, eg Aisle or Window.

Members such as myself, who now pay some $400+ a year for membership, should be entitled to something. As for how often they fly, they could do a return trip Sydney to Melbourne 17 times in a year, and still not be eligible for Silver FF. We should not discount the value of Qantas Club members to Qantas.

I'm wondering if there was any other criteria. They said SYD was next after PER. Ive done probably 10 trips to SYD this year.

another thought was i always seem to "forget" my boarding pass when I arrive so get a cardboard one printed at the QP. Perhaps because I was always so "forgetful" they thought I could try it!

I am not sure Sydney would be another criteria. But hard to judge as I don't get the magazine, travelled to PER last October as Silver, have done about 30 trips to Sydney this year and now gold. I also always have a bp printed at the airport using quickcheck or lounge, this year.

I cover many of the same mentioned criteria but no email. Maybe they also checked forward bookings which are all involve ADL and SYD.

I fly WGA-SYD-BNE-SYD-WGA every second week and didn't get the email, though I guess I never actually check in at SYD.

I think its just PER at this point.

As a SYD based WP did not get the email (last PER visit 2007 and 2009). I did however get a shiny new WP tag (no Q in corner) last week (July expiry).

Interestingly one colleague (also WP) who has done SYD-PER in J 4 times this yr so far did not get an invite, whilst another (probably 8 time over two years) did.

I have the email so I'm waiting for my new card. I would like to take it away with me on Tuesday so hopefully, it will arrive soon. However, as you say, it probably wont.

I'm heading off tomorrow (but to Delhi not PER) be nice to take it with me, but wouldn't get to use it!

I'm willing to be it includes booked travel as well as past travel.

I tend to go to PER 3-5 times a year, and my past travel will quite clearly show that I usually go that often.

I also have 2 forward bookings to PER before the end of the year, as well as a few to SYD and BNE.

I'd say regular travel to PER or at very least booked travel in the past/future 12 months would be the basic criteria.
