Is the traditional Grand Final Dinner taking a break this year?

I will also be interstate, not Qld, I have attended the previous 2 dinners, and after a terrible season from a certain purple coloured football team, my interest in the Grand Final well evaporated.

I enjoyed the past 2 years, thanks to serfty for organizing the match tickets and thanks to CE for the dinner.

The Royce / Olive Tree combo has been great in the past, so I am "interested" if we can get numbers.

I'm a definite possible. Don't forget to allow for a certain last-minute attendee. I'm sure he'll say "Good on ya".

Well we are normally in Melbourne for the Grand Final but we let our accommodation go as well as our flights a few days ago. We can watch an all Sydney grand final from Sydney on tv if that happens.
We were impressed with the Western Bulldogs seeing off Hawthorn with their speed so they are still a chance of making it.
It sure wasn't the Dockers year in 2016.
As for a public holiday before the grand final is a bad joke for retailers who have to pay penalty wage rates to open.

Yes to both - I am in Canada for GF but all our mship tix allocation totally used because it is the 'Grand Final' - would not matter who was playing.

As for parade depends very much on weather - if fine sunny day then YES crowds will be huge - Swannies still hugely popular with Melb folk - if Bullies get through parade crowd on a fine day will be biggest in years.

I'm crossing my fingers this will happen, just to witness how bitter and twisted some people would no doubt would get.

Also, The chances to snare a ticket for the GF would no doubt be greater without a Victorian team playing at the G.

AFL have just breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Melbourne vs Sydney in the grand final of both codes.

Sydney as in Cronulla in the rugby league.

Melbourne beat Canberra 14-12 in the rugby league.

Qantas and Virgin will both be happy.
