Heads up about program changes

You heard it here first, I'm claiming the term "enhanced simplicity"

I think the thing that gets my goat is the amateurish way in which they roll these things out.
The poor table formats, the myriad of errors, the duplicitous nature of their perceived "benefits" etc.

Anything that requires 7 web pages to explain a simplified system isn't simple at all. I really do not understand what is SIMPLE about this system!

One thing is for sure, It will be simpler to make all those call centre staff redundant because no one will be calling for MASA bookings.... -.-

Just drinking with some other affers. One person at least thinks it'll be wonderful that the J and F lounges will be de-populated from MASA and DSC types.

OK, thanks to correction of my earlier post by markis10, I looked for the original quote "ASAs are here to stay".

Well, well ... here it is in in the AFF thread :

(my bolding).

So, Red Roo ... I imagine you will be wanting to sincerely apologise to this forum? I know this may not be the same person as "you", and management have a nasty habit of double crossing everyone ... but "Red Roo' made this statement. So a simple, gracious apology would be nice.

Shooting the messenger has never been a good idea.

So all platinum customers are "loss making" if they fly in discount Y....

Very cool story indeed to say the least! Can you please tell me more about how a customer that may spend $10k on a J flight or $12K on a F flight but then will fly discount Y around the East Coast of Australia is "loss-inducing"

QF would rather have WPs that spend $10K on a J flight only. Every NOQ flight around the East coast of Australia reduces the profit from that $10K J flight (which was probably only a couple of thousand in the first place). And they would rather have NOQ fares filled with casual travellers who do not get lounge access, extra baggage nor require priority checkin staff.

Surely this is patently obvious?

I have no doubt that QF have very detailed stats on every single FF that they have - every flight that they took, what they paid, and the profit margins. That's the whole Altea value assigned to each customer that's been reported here. I also have no doubt that QF also has a bunch of analysts crunching numbers to work out how best to eliminate the loss making parts. I don't doubt this because I know a fair few current and ex-QF (and Fujitsu) staff who support QF's IT systems.

Just about every single person whinging here does not pay for J or F (whether personally or via work) - it's people on BFODs or MASAs or nesting flights ex-foreign port. I doubt QF care too much about losing those customers. A few others will be genuinely profit-positive, but they'll be a small minority, and collateral damage. QF has figured out they can afford to p*ss them off.

Edit: aren't you the one that travels the world in style based off the back of millions of Amex points? You're probably exactly the customer that Amex and QF don't want.

Lounges will be much busier when folks realise status with AA, BA and Malaysian is easier to obtain than crediting to QFF ;)

Red Roo, please tell me what the below means on the partner airline page???

"The way you earn Qantas Points on partner airline flights will transition to the same regional framework as the table above. Please ensure
Your Profile
is up to date so that we can keep you informed of these changes."

Sorry Red Roo but myself, and at least 4 other Platinums and Golds have had it with the incompetent management of QF. My next trip to Europe will be the last on QF/EK. I am sick of decisions such as these being taken with little consideration or consultation with customers.

Please tell me HOW I fly a QF aircraft to Beijing, Frankfurt, Seoul or any of these destinations where FFs are now punished because.....WE HAVE NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO FLY A PARTNER AIRLINE!!!!

If you think earning 60SCs on a CX flight to Hong Kong in J will offset ageing aircraft, one flight per day and the prison/cafe breakfast, think again. I will now be crediting to AA instead. GOOD BYE!

Still digesting this so will not comment for fear of making a fool of myself and incorrectly commenting on things...

But...how on earth this is simpler than an easy to understand mile based chart, I have no idea.

Yep, the J lounges will be empty.. so we can all fight over the sandwich presses which make up for the lack of prepared food recently.

AA has a pretty bad website that doesn't explain a whole lot.

If you are really going to leave QF, just leave, we don't need to know how much you've spent and how angry you are.
Qantas isn't going to change their decision because you are going to fly another airline.

I can see many millions of points being spent on MASAs between now and July 01.

Thank you Red Roo for giving us the advance 'heads up'. As a large community who are passionate flyers it is great that Qantas engages with us and long may it continue.

As I read the T & C's they can't be booked after tonight ??? is that right or wrong ???

Now I'm really brickin it with 300k QF points in the bank.
Maybe I should give them all away as I can't get annual leave until next February.
Or who wants to trade me 1 SQ for 1.25 QF?

And fair play to RedRoo - at least s/he was honest and mentioned revenue TWICE in the post, unlike the e-mail

Are the new domestic bands (short, medium, long) vaguely aligned to the older mileage boundaries (600, 1200, everything else)? If so, the tables look more complex, but to the average punter, they no longer need to use a calculator to find out which band the flight fell into.

- Classic and Partner awards still seem to have the same value - you could do a RTW J for 265K points
- You can still book a xASA (before 1 July) for travel through to 1 July 2014
Not sure why you need to give away your points just yet.

It's blatantly obvious that QF want to continue to drive down their customer numbers and revenue to reach their end plan sooner than later. Now that the Government has told QF to "go away" they have no choice but to bleed and burn customers as fast as possible.

But yes do continue to make assumptions about people on here paying for J/F :)

I have millions of FF points in various programs, but never let that get in the way that I spend $50k+ pa on QF which they are at risk of losing to other carriers..

But yes do tell me more, again, about how Amex hates me as a customer pushing $1mil plus through various Amex cards, yes, yes I am sure they don't want me and all the disgusting merchant fees that I generate for them.
