All good points. As a genuine FREQUENT flyer, I just want a soft cushion and a nice meal every so often. Don't want others to suffer at my expense, but I do believe that if you actually fly QF a lot,
these things are not too much to ask for. BTW am 40 SCs off renewing WP and my anniversary isn't until Aug 31. Discount Y besides one jet* J to HKT. Sucks to be me :-(

He takes the $$$ for being the front man, he can take the flak. And he can go.

Yes he is the "front man" but at the same time isn't responsible for what happened prior to his arrival that put QF on the slippery slope that it is..

In it's current form do you really think replacing the CEO will make any difference? It has the potential to make it worse....

however was the profitability of the FF program to the detriment of QFi??

When you see the allowances etc that get paid to staff on these trips one wonders. Not saying they are not entitled but the allowances and overtime are enormous PLUS QANTAS has given away all of its profitable runs to Jetstar.
When you think about it if QFF is profitable then QFi should have been as well but most of the competition is State sponsored....not really a level playing feild and not part of the problem with QFF program

Are you sure all those routes were profitable? Or more that it was too expensive for QF to operate them so moved them to JQ?

I don't give a rats. I have spent so much of my own money on Qf over the last 20 years, only to have this cr##p thrust down my throat with the extraordinarily insulting suggestion that the system was improving. I'll burn my points then goodbye RRoo, hello competitors. Joyce and the rest have no concept of what 'loyalty' means. They will soon find out what 'disloyalty' stands for amongst those who paid their way for so long.

Yes, of course, but does QF actually listen to any of what the passengers are after (or deserve) before the enhancements come along?

wonder what Credit Card Company will latch onto the disenchantment that might build amongst big spenders and offer "something" ......OR....will they see it as a chance to let go of the Tiger's tail ??????????

Ask a qantas International pilot for their opinion and see what response they give....not me though I only pay to fly not get paid to fly....CAPS OFF !!

Well it does seem that it will be easier for me to keep WP and much harder for people who haven't got to WP yet, but travel like I do to attain. Enhancements for some, but none of the others?

only time will tell.. I suspect though it will be a smaller number of people than you think..

i'm not talking about the pilots. if JQ's operating costs are far lower than QF's, then as a business it makes sense. that's the weight of a legacy carrier... Most have already had changes in the last few years.. time for QF to do the same to remain viable..

You're quite right of course. The year before Mr Joyce took the reins, QF Group made a profit of $1.4B on revenues of $16.2B with a Jet Fuel price of US$3.88/Gal.

Joyce can't be held responsible for that, but for everything since.

Well well well. As a hard earned discount Y platinum (1 JASA one way only) I for one welcome if I go to the F lounge and it's not full to the brim of people who earn squillions if points through their spending in their CC program, redeem them for FASAs and JASAs to get status (especially JASA status runs) and then fill the Flounge. There are very small and few rewards for having to travel as much as I do (and a lot of others) and getting a seat (and if the gods truly have mercy) and a massage in the flounge is great distraction from the hell that is Y long haul. Please QFF, clean out the xASA Platinums:-). Let the flames begin!

Like Colster, I too earned my WP status flying discount Y - QF all the way except when they didn't fly the route. Sure the F lounge was crowded at times, (the domestic lounge was like a front bar more often than not!!), but the extra perks that came with the WP status usually made the pain, that much easier.

I don't disparage those that made use of MASAs/JASAs - it was on offer from QF and if you wanted to do a status run all well and good. I used it once I think, only because we had to use an "approved TA" by our client to book 99% of the flights. The one time I booked a JASA (ADL-BKK), my first leisure flight in ages.

Was I rorting the system? I don't believe so - I used the information and product/s provided by QF to my advantage, and after spending thousands with them over their competition, it was a "bonus" I was happy to use.

Am I sad to see it go? It didn't affect me greatly, so it isn't a big deal for me, of course others are finding it much more of a dent to their personal circumstances; for me it's the reduction in SCs - with the amount of flying we do in discount Y, the decision to remain loyal to QF is now being reviewed quite seriously.

Everyone is obviously affected differently, but that doesn't mean that person A's position is any greater or worse than person B; it seems we're all going to do some form of (re)assessment - the big question/s: "How many of us will jump ship, (and how big a blip will that become on QFs radar) and will QF care they have lost many loyal FFs?"

And they pumped it up to flog it to a PE firm. They also didn't order any new aircraft leaving them with an aged fleet (those 737-400's should have gone a long time ago). Just because it made a profit, doesn't mean it was being run well.. Slashing capital growth to boost profits is a short term gain and a long term loss.

I really don't get the anger on this thread. Deal with it and move on. Sure, mourn for the past, but 158
pages of mostly whining? Get a real life and spend more time with your families on the ground. Be thankful that occasionally we can take said families on a holiday for a huge discount.

More flames???
