QF Loyalty have lost the plot....another free kick to VA. I can only wonder what VA will decide to do in response
For starters it's a frequent flyer program. This subtle shift to 'Qantas Points' has been shifting into the vocab for a while now. The core of your business is flying. The aim should be to fly to earn and burn and supplement with ground-partners. Yet instead, you devalue point earning by doing what the program was designed for - flying, instead throwing points at me for buying $30 of seafood at Woolworths, signing up for health insurance and mortaging a house (and soul) to Macquarie....
And yet I get penalised further when you fly an inferior product to your 'partner' (*cough* CX) or you don't fly to places I want to go like KUL or GIG and so I use your 'partner'...yeah, that seems like a fair reward for my loyalty.
If the aim was really to reduce points earning on Discount Y buckets, then why not a simple multiplier on mileage flown - eg 0.5 per mile?
I'd like to hope that the first of the 5000 sent packing are part of the 'team' responsible for the "simple" new system...
