Hilton SW (MEL) will be rebranded to Pan Pacific from May 31 [now July 27]

Any update (preferably from Hotel staff) when exactly the change will occur? This thread is title "...from May 31". But the OP article says "after 31 May" (but the link is now dead).

The PanPac website says "Opening June 2017" - no specific date and you can't book 01 June.

Last time I checked, Hilton was happily taking bookings beyond 01 June. But I guess that is not uncommon for hotels that get rebadged with out refurb?

Inside word is a hard effort is being made for May 31/June 1 handover, with Hilton pulling out on May 31 either way.

I'm there this weekend I will make enquiries.

Heard from a very reliable source that it may be delayed a couple of weeks but it's yet to be confirmed. However, bookings made past May 31 will still be honoured but not sure how long for and whether all previous HH status benefits will be retained with the bookings.

I've just booked for the AFF Christmas Dinner on Dec 23 so will be interested to see how it is treated.

If I make a booking now for October 2017, do you guys think they'll honour my diamond HH status?

This hotel is pretty good at looking after status people HOWEVER who really knows beyond the changeover. I have made a few ongoing booking but will watch them very closely.

Agree. I never tried the property as diamond, only gold. Hoping that the new owners will honour HH gold/diamond until the end of the year.

P.S: Sorry for the Agreasdhjasd it wouldnt let me add space unless i post and edit the post.

Riddle me this. I have a reservation for 30 May to 01 June... Was hoping to count a stay for status match purposes.

Should I stay or should I go elsewhere?
Seems you should now be OK with this one as the last info from the hotel is that the change over will be delayed a few weeks.

DT MEL asked me this morning when the changeover was to happen. :)

Am I making it into the same vaulted status as straitman with all things HSW?

Thanks. As insurance, I have an overlapping one night reservation up my sleeve for a checkout/re-checkin if I need it...

Looks like I won't get to stay there again before it changes over :(. I am going to miss it as a Hilton and still may stay there when I'm at the MCEC. Definitely the staff I am going to miss...and already miss some from the past.

Rumour has it that the change over is going to be delayed by (possibly) a month. -- From the staff last Friday.

I think a read somewhere, maybe not, that some thought was being given to/ or a suggestion was made that AFF may have a gathering at HSW prior to the switch over. Is there a thread pursuing such a gathering or did I just imagine it.

AFFer's need a departure time. I don't think that is known just yet!

You didn't imagine it. It was suggested by Aeolus if I remember correctly but didn't go anywhere due to the lack of proper date.

Just asking as I would travel back (travel and time permitting) to a farewell function at HSW. During the past 12-18 months this hilton has been consistently the best Hilton for upgrades and status recognition across all the Hiltons I stay at. I place it in my top 2 along with Shinjuku, Japan.
