Macquarie Bank takes over from HSBC

Their crazy systems is not accepting, or is hugely delaying acceptance of, online BPay payments. My payment has left my bank but has not credited at the card account.

And as Ive posted a few times Mac knows that it will take a few days to post into the account. It will credit on the date you made payment and not the date it appears.

I would wait until
a) balance is zero, and
b) any residual points have transferred.

Good advice. You probably saved me several thousand points as I was going to cancel my card today after recently making some purchases.

The other part is to get your replacement CC running before ditching this one. Today I activated my shiny new Visa card from Qantas Credit Union and it is off and running.

Just got my statement today.
No mention of a new card and no emails about activating a card?
Payment went through at the end of February as usual.

The BPay payment finally appeared. Still no new card to activate but will now sit tight and ignore everything to see if a points-offer prompt eventually comes through.

I received all the information re my new Macquarie visa card yesterday.

I noted , as previous posters have said that the annual fee has increased and there's a reduced point earn if you spend over 2500 dollars per month.

This will be a loss for me as I usually spend more than that amount per month.
The upsides seem to be

Qantas point bonus points when you scan the EDR number on the back of the card ( more than $30 spend at Woolies)
+
additional points for Qantas purchases.

The extras certainly won't get me back to where I would have been under the original card.

To be fair, one upside is the complimentary travel insurance coverage- the $500 excess is a little high but the list of pre existing conditions is pretty inclusive and much better than all chronic illnesses being totally excluded in some other card insurances ( eg Amex Ultimate )

All in all , probably not enough reasons staying with the MacQuarie Bank Woolies Visa.

Still , I got the supervisor to refund my first years annual fee so I do have some time to look around for an alternative.

Lol you got the points for scanning edr card regardless. .. same with qf purchase bonus points. Nothing new there and the 1st point has nothing to do with the credit card

I think you get 1 bonus point for using the card when the total is over $30 ...

The EDR barcode part is unrelated to the card, and you can just use your normal EDR card instead and earn points no matter how you pay. There are no bonus points for WOW group purchases.

You get that with the EDR card anyway...the card is now a crock if you are serious about points
EG - currently spend at least $ 20 K per month = 20,000 + points
Now spend $ 20K get 11,250 points
Wonder when the penny will drop with them when they see their accounts closed

No you don't. ..spend $35 and use the EDR Visa card to pay and earn 6 QFF points, not 5 ... 1 bonus point is what you get ... (spend $40 and get 11) ...

Which has always been part of this card ISTR. But I've never notice those points. I'd also suggest it's different to what ozflier mentioned which sounds like the standard EDR points.

Thanks for the feedback, this new Visa card is next to useless.

What can they be thinking?

Wait until you get the email offering 5,000 bonus points. That's what I did. I'll be cancelling it anyway once the 5,000 points are transferred to my QFF account.

I got an offer for 2000 bonus points today .. but still no new card.

I received both the new card and the 2000 bonus points offer today. The points are only awarded after using the card. May as well activate, use and then kill at the end of this cycle.

I received text message 2 weeks ago to inform me that new card was gonna arrive within next a few days, and today I received an email with 2000 bonus points plus 10% off in WWS shopping, I keep receiving offer from them, but just no card.

My new Visa card arrived today....shamed I had cancelled the card a few days ago...straight into the shredder machine!
