New AFF Website

I used "Today's Posts" regularly, so it is a bit of a pain.

The link should be the 'What's New' Link with ?days=1 stuck on the end, (Xenforo keeps doing magic stuff to the link when I try to paste the full thing in.)
/community/find-new/posts?days=1

You didn't comment on thread marks.

Thread marks are an option in XenForo for the thread OP or a mod to tag a individual posts in a thread which can then be jumped to directly via an index within the thread.

Can’t you send me this info in a conversation and I’ll have a look at it tomorrow.

In regards to the greyed out quotes being hard to read, why can't the quotes be displayed like they are seen in the email notifications? Very clear to read and wouldn't be reinventing the wheel.

This is actually the default look, but that template is not compatible with all our add-ons. We shall look at quotes in the future. I’m not saying no, but we are focusing on functionality right now.

What's New combined with
Mark Forums Read (albeit possibly should be Mark Threads Read)

Seems a very quick way to identify new content.

Don't wait for the drop down menu, just click on "What's New?".
On my desktop, I find a double-click on "What's New" opens threads with unread posts very quickly.
Liking this new software more and more as I use it.
I find it VERY readable/usable on my Samsung S8 - text is much blacker than on my PC desktop, which is a big help.

There used to be a feature to mark a Forum as Read and also to mark all Forums read. Is this feature still around?

There is a Mark Forums Read but not sure this is related to one forum or all forums. It is a good to keep some forums cluttering up New posts but then someone goes and creates 8 Wine sub-forums with threads/posts littered all over the place and no easy way to avoid.

I made the mistake of commenting on the difficulty in the new AFF system. Now I am inundated with email replies from AFF. All I wanted was to browse a gain knowledge from daily posts. How do I stop the replies to thread? Its getting out of control: bring back the original, and please don't reply! A contradiction.

Go to the flag symbol in the top right of the screen and hover over it. When the drop down menu appears, click on 'Alert Preferences' and deselect the various email notifications.

I think this is taking a bit of getting used to - happy with feedback and suggestions but I'm sure the guys who run this forum didn't do this to make our lives tougher - yes I'm struggling a little but will just keep playing until I either find what I want or ask more questions - well done to the workers behind the scenes - I know what go lives are all about and you'll never keep everyone happy

an app generally drives engagement. However here's my counter, due to the state the app has been in lately, it has probably kept people away.

My multi-quote failed but Sam went on to say a new app is somewhere down the "to do" list.

I am (was) in the camp who only visited AFF via the app. I'd still prefer a functional app but the current mobile site is pretty good, certainly an improvement on the old app.

It seemed odd to limit app access to paid members only, surely this limited engagement? A failing app also pushed people away, but, due to this policy, these were paid members trying to contribute their experiences to the success of this site (raison d'etre) not newbie lurkers.

I dont agree with the argument using a self enforced restrictive policy and members abandoning the failing app to justify why a new app is not needed.

Getting more used to it but still some dislikes/bugs.
Still getting notifications by email though I switched alerts off except if I get mentioned in a post. The emails though are for just replies. So deleted all my watch list of threads-better but still getting them for the OT thread.
Faded colour-dislike.And why are signatures faded except for Mods?
Don't like the smilies.
Would rather 40 posts per page.

But-no problems posting photos and videos much easier to post.
And I am getting used to the new way of things.

We are not using that to justify not making a new app. The reason an app did not launch at the same time was because all of our attention was on the main areas of the site. Moving forward, we will look at the options.

I can tell you that from what I have seen of app platforms for Xenforo sites there are some cool features available for app users over regular non-app users.

And why are signatures faded except for Mods?

I hadn’t noticed that. If they’re different it’s not by much.

What signatures (viewing on mobile)?

I think samh004 uses Bold and Colour Tags in his signature which overrides the default dark grey colour. Nothing stopping anyone else doing this.

Bold colour

I'm not getting those email thread updates so it must be in people's personal preferences if they are. I've never signed up for them.

Something for the list...

When I have made a post, and then clicked on 'What's new' on the top menu, I've been noticing that the post/thread doesn't show. Should be at/near the top.

I just noticed there is a link 'recent posts' to the top right of the posts list, and when I click that, the list refreshes and I see everything up to that second.

Shouldn't clicking afresh on 'what's new' also present an up-to-date list?

Edit: The two views - the first when I clicked on 'whats new' after first making this post, the second after I clicked on 'recent posts'.
