Is photo resizing/upload limiting going to come back?
Otherwise I assume a few people uploading 8+Mb photos in Trip Reports is going to quickly fill up the AFF hard drive

I just tried to upload a 5MB image and, after the '100%' mark, it was rejected.

Yep. On the old app. It went through jpegmini (from the FxIF data) - so most things uploaded came down to about 100k
It also stripped the FxIF data.

(BTW I used a plugin for Firefox called FxIF data to pull that info in one click)

LOL does it show my shoe size... Q, If we post via a thumbnail will it eliminate all the extra data you pulled?

How do I deal with logins?
I have added to my iPhone home screen the main AFF page. But every time I press it, the site tells me I need to login.

I have ticked the box to keep me logged in but it doesn't work. Do I need to login each and every time?

I am not having an issue staying logged-in.

I know some users use Safari in a "private browsing mode" (identifiable because the UI is black), which often results in the cookie not being saved and being constantly logged out.

Love the 'selective quote' function. And yes. That solved it. Right now I am reading the guide. I'm like RooFlyer and tend to plunge in.

Agree, very cool feature. Can't count the number of times I've quoted a post and then deleted the majority of it to selectively quote one bit. It also works with multi-quote which is even cooler.

The file size limit funnily enough is 5120KB or 5MB. I thought this was already pretty generous and I could see this lowering in the future. I don't think members need the worry of pages with 5MB+ images on them! :p

Testing the thumbnail versus full image. Same photo (best one I've ever taken)

Maybe thumbnail is large enough then.

And you can edit and add extra photos. Excellent. Now seeing if I can beat the five limit.

Well that kind of worked.

.

Just testing but my old method of posting seems to work. But I use my unique method which the photo wizzea on FT say cant possibly work.Their methods don't work for me though.

Do we need to manually 'watch thread' for those threads we were previously subscribed to? I seem to have been reset, and haven't received any emails since yesterday.

I'm quite liking the new site. Obviously takes time to get familiar.

Despite a few little things that may need adjustment and the requirement for me to read the instructions. :):) have to say over all it looks good. Good Job to all involved.....

Could the blue dot denoting new post be made a little larger? Fat fingers go to the OP profile instead of the new post

These icon shortcuts look very different. Hopefully not misinterpreted. :D

Thumbnails should be maximum 250 pixels (either heigh or width).

I believe the image limit is 10 per post.

I believe the old subscribed threads did not make the journey across.

Some interesting new add ons to the site too. Or maybe I didn't see them in the old version. I'm really liking this revamp. Can you tell? :p And I think I'm a tough audience

amaroo.

Thats a ~2Mb image..
I'd far prefer a thumbnail, particularly if viewing on mobile data.

Indeed I'd almost hope something that big is forced into a thumbnail just to improve page load times.

Also came through with full FxIF date - from a resort in Hoi An.

GPS Coordinate: 15° 55′ 27.60″ N, 108° 19′ 28.80″ E

GPS is slightly off. Photo was taken at The Nam Hai .... now Four Seasons Nam Hai. About 2kms to the left

I'm not receiving any email notifications either for watched threads. They are all listed under "Watched Threads" on my profile, and my Preference Settings (receive email notification of replies etc) are all ticked, but not receiving any notifications when new posts are added to those threads.

ETA: Have just received notifications of a couple of replies to THIS thread, but no others. Have just "unwatched" and then "re-watched" a previously watched thread to see whether I start receiving notifications for it again.

1. Should Profile Posts be public? I'd have thought not.
2. I'd like to see New Posts with read messages dulled out rather than vanished. I've just read one, read the next then couldn't see the one I'd previously read as I had thought of a reply.

The "guide" explains this, you have the ability to post a thumbnail or a full size image. The thumbnails are useful I find. As is the Lightbox that displays when clicking on some images, allows for easy scrolling between the images in a post.

It seems that photos in existing trip reports are rendered as thumbnails. To me, that is disappointing. I like the simplicity of seeing the pics in the posts as I read them.

This is a result of the import/ how the images were handled in vBulletin. It is possible for a Moderator or Administrator to edit posts to display the images bigger, but it is not high priority right now.

When things quiet down, send me a message and I’ll have a look at a few TR’s (though not all) for you.

Sorry if I've missed it, but is there an option to set the default to display latest posts at the top?
