Cruise Critic Forum underwent a change recently also and the common complaint was there was too much white space. Maybe I am used that now but AFF is not as bad in this area as CC is. White seems to be the way to go apparently. It does look cleaner.

I rescanned my avatar image and made sure there was enough white space so that the cormers were no longer cut off.

Did you archive all the previous avatars supplied by AFF when you went to XenForo? I had an avatar provided by AFF which I chose when I first joined. This hasn't carried across to the new site. I'd like it back as I thought it was a good reflection of me and my love of writing.

Are all your subscriptions gone. Threads i followed before update have had new posts but i didnt get an email

Agree with needing the little blue dot to be bigger! I keep ending up on profiles :(

Does anyone know how to change the frequency of email alerts? Previously I had some set to immediate, others to daily and some to weekly.

As far as I can gather, there is no option to change the frequency. You either get emails for a thread or you don't.

Was in the web and print design business for years so will say it again its .....awful, a 5 year old could have done better than this,
GET RID OF ALL THIS WASTED WHITE SCROLLING SPACE AND FIX THE FORUM HEADING PLEASE!

Oooohh... strong words. Be it poor design, I'd still say big call on the 5 year old comment! Maybe you should offer your consultancy services to AFF (for the right price)? :)

Lots of comments about the whitespace. I'm not sure I notice it as much as others do. If anything, the design seems very much consistent with modern design, particularly when it gets to mobile mode. Most of the elements are larger than before, supposedly to cater for touch interfaces. And naturally, these days, it's all about making one set of responsive sites for all rather than different distinct designs for each viewport.

The main thing I can think of now which is not great for mobile touch is the shortcut to go to the first unread post from the watched threads list.

One thing I don't quite get is why each "div element" in modern design needs very soft edges, making it blend into the background rather than making it distinct. AFF is no exception here, unless you vary the brightness or blink a bit. Not the best for anyone who has any degree of colour blindness, and surely this is exacerbated on mobile devices over desktops.

I really wish there was an option to increase the posts per page, but seems it won't be user specific, so I'm just kind of glad it's not 10 per page.

Getting multiple notifications of posts. Not a major problem.

So after a couple of hours getting used to the new layout, I'm finding features I like.

I've been clicking community forums>watched threads to catch up on the latest in threads I'm most interested in. Once I cleared all the phantom unread threads it works fine. This has allowed be to deactivate some email notifications and is good news for my inbox!

Then I've found myself going to What's News>New Posts to see anything new to which I'm not subscribed. This takes two clicks more than the old site but I can live with that.

What I really miss is the two line preview of what those posts say. It's helpful to get the gist of a post before clicking through to read it all.

@Admin, @Mods, any chance this feature can be restored please?

Never mind. It still exists. I was just looking in the wrong place. Possibly I was the only one, but just in case you go What's News>Recent Activity.

You may regret offering that ;) (assuming it was a non-exclusive offer ...)

it's limited.

The site is telling me I can upgrade to gold membership ..... I'm already gold. Has the membership status rolled over correctly?

We are experiencing some issues, but we hope to get this resolved as soon as possible.

I see poor 'ol wandering_fred has been made headless ...

All he needs to do is reupload his avatar.

Is there anyway you can disable avatars from displaying? It seems that the large size of them and the content under them is determining the size of the comment box.

Another forum I use has a skin available that strips all that out and this means posts are more condensed.

Need to allow for discreet work browsing! No issues using the Net but I don't need my colleagues being nosy!

No. Avatars always display.

Unfortunately, avatars that were supplied through the vBulletin software are no longer available.

Some users have had their subscriptions transferred however others seem to be experiencing issues with this feature.

@Mods does not work. To tag a user you need to type out the full username.

Seems about right ;)

Ok, in fairness rolling out a new forum would be a pain in the butt. Thanks to Admin and the Mods team for their effort to improve the site.

I have no complaints about the UI. Yes, it's new and im still getting used to it after being forced over to the mobile site from the now defunct app. Probably not before time as that poor neglected app was barely functional by the end (appcrash, logouts, slow...) and I'm still in the habit of saving my text before posting, fully expecting to be booted when pressing "reply".

Here's to a brave new world

Quite a lot of private detail shown here... these messages go back to before the site rolled over.

Are PMs ("conversations") now visible to all ? Or is this a new version of posting publicly on another user's "wall" ?

As per OzEires post above I too can see what appears to be Private messages between members including people swapping emails and also what appears to be Home Address details...

Surely this is a breach of Privacy???
