New AFF Website

Tried to look everywhere, is there an equivalent page to "subscriptions"?
ie. lists the threads you have posted in, by thread.
Different to "your posts" which displays all posts, even if multiple have been made in the same thread.

Is "alerts" supposed to be something along the lines of what I'm referring to? It does not list historical threads that I've posted in, just the ones posted in after the refresh...

Go to the "Community Forums" menu at the top of the page, then select "Watched Threads"

Quite a lot of private detail shown here... these messages go back to before the site rolled over.

Are PMs ("conversations") now visible to all ? Or is this a new version of posting publicly on another user's "wall" ?
Absolutely not! PM's (or "conversations" in the Xenforo world) can only be seen my members who are in the "conversation". Think of it like sending an email to multiple people, or sending someone a Facebook message.

What you are seeing is "Profile posts". These were always visible in vBulletin. You just had to know where to look. Think of these as posting on someone's Facebook Wall.

Is there an equivalent of full site 'what's new / new posts' on the mobile site ? Can we view the full site in its 'native state' on phones, as I did before (I know, no pleasing some!) :)

Is there an equivalent for 'participated threads' on the mobile render? (And no not watched threads/forums/what's new). Just like to keep an eye on recent threads I've posted in.

Apologies if it's been asked and answered there were too many pages to read through here and I couldn't see it addressed in the guide....

PS cannot wait for the app :)

@Kangol go to the top of page and click COMMUNITY FORUMS.

Then click Watched Threads.

Scroll down and below the threads displayed there click Show All Watched Threads.

This should open up little check boxes beside threads you are watching an allow to to activate or deactivate email notifications.

There may be an easier way but this method is working for me at present.

Why fix something that isn't broken :(
My first reaction is to head to FT as at least I know how to navigate. I'm sure I'll be back browsing here but right now I can't deal with it.

Technology doesn't work like that. Platforms change and that causes a butterfly effect to users, in this case AFF.

Question for MODs - the old forum stripped metadata from uploaded photos. Photo upload seems much better with new software but does it strip the metadata?

Otherwise photos from mobile devices will have GPS and other personal identification.

That's the link I've saved to my phone on the main screen which makes it look like an app icon. It's the XenForo icon. Click on that and I'm right into the new posts.

I would like to be able to change the location of where photos go in a post? I can't get this photo below the text and not on top
.

Ah - because we are currently using the web interface that works really well on mobile devices (my usual means of posting) we can change bolding and colour directly. Had to be on the PC or using the web interface on the phone - that I disliked - to do that before.

I am thinking - maybe we don't need the app as this interface is great anyway on devices.

Very disappointed with the unnecessary changes to the website interface.

They haven't done it to annoy us. Well, at least I hope not  We don't know the behind the scenes issues that forced the change.

If you could have only seen the broken things behind the scenes. Plus, there were many issues we couldn’t resolve, some of which were talked about in this very subforum.

Well the app was most certainly broken and the new platform is going to allow a new app so I think it's worth it :)

Exactly.

Very disappointed with the unnecessary changes to the website interface.

Wherever possible the look and feel was kept the same/as close as possible to before. Obviously, we couldn’t keep everything.

Absolutely agree, has no design element, heading is awful, site is bland and so much wasted white space etc. "if it ain't broke don't fix it' rings true in this case, I suggest go and have a look at this site and forums then "if" AFF wants to enter the modern era follow suit. Me too very disappointed at this big step backwards, so for now a casual browser.

One good thing from here is no more annoying Ads :)

Well, they had to do something with the underlying platform, that was unsupported and out of date (and was slowly breaking as anyone who had issues with quoting would know). It had a mobile version that was clunky, etc.
Something had to change....

Thanks for the heads up @TheRealTMA. I was just about to launch into a big TR. I might give that a miss.

Change for the better yes, not this faint concoction it went backwards, find someone who knows the game. AFF been one of my fav. sites for years not any more, pity.
