New Next Gen Card and Bag Tags have arrived!

I've now finally seen one in person thanks to Bundy Bear. The part that attaches them to the bag is not what I imagined it to be but think it works really well. They're not as big as what I had pictured based on previous information, so I think they look OK and quite durable.

After the number of NGCI tags on hand luggage I have seen in the last few days, I have come to one of 3 conclusions:

1. The W in WP actually stands for Wanker with a capital W or,
2. Many WP's actually use their NGCI tags as beer coasters and hanging them from their carry on is just a handy spot to have them when an emergency beer coaster needed arises, or
3. The W in WP actually stands for Wanker with a capital W

Why on earth would you hang a NGCI tag from hand luggage? It has me stumped...!

[Footnote: Insert any status in the WP field however, leave the remaining W's]

;)

:)

After having see a CL with his on a bag that would not have survived checked luggage, I have a good name for CL that is not publishable on here :

I was in the QP and J lounges last week and i couldn't believe how many SG and WP NGCI tags were there.. Mine are still sitting at home! I have no desire to put them on my hand luggage!

+1 Mine are still sitting in the nicely ribboned pack they sent me.

I've taken the nice new card, but don't think the new tags are going to do anything for me on my Int run next week.........well, other than publicise my "W" status which I would otherwise have to act DYKWIA to achieve ;)

I put mine on my cabin bag, because i thought it might help identify me if it ever got misplaced. It's got my contact details on the back. call me a w*&nker if you want to.

Wiliest yes, there is space on these for your personal details, why wouldn't you just stick to the old tags that still have the DYKWIA factor if that's what you want, and also hides your personal info. Im very reluctant to put information so publicly. I only put my initial and last name with my phone number in my current tags, along with a PO Box. That's just me though :)

I only have my QF number and mobile phone number on my NGCI tags. After all QF can track me anywhere with the membership number so why have anything else on there?

But I guess it shows that the tag could be put inside a pocket and still be read ok. ;)
I only put my QFF number on tags.

My NGCI tags have nothing on them as they are still in their packaging and are likely to remain there for the foreseeable future.

I share Drewbles' doubts. The inability to conceal my identity details will keep them in the same place as my priority club bag tags, which have the same problem. I accumulated numerous AN ones (advantage of GW + lots of tiers!) and they are still hanging in there on my bags:D

Do you still have the ribbon on your packaging Serfty??

We should see who holds out the longest!! :)

Just arrived home today and with all my mail, found this small package covered in loose plastic from QF about the thickness of a small notebook (as in, the one that you write on paper, not referring to the electronic item).

I guess that's the said package everyone's talking about...will open it later.

I completely missed that obvious point. Woohoo!

I only put my QFF number on tags.

Likewise, recently. Starting with the KLM tags I simply added my most common membership numbers (as QF isn’t always going to be the only one).

What is likely happen if you were to fly internationally with VA and connect domestically with DJ, with your NGCI tags attached to your luggage? Will the baggage handlers follow what's on the printed label, or could they assume you're on a QF flight and the bag get lost for a period of time?

Just had my first run in with NGCI this morning, and I didn't even want to!

Printed my boarding pass from the quickcheck machine and had every intention of proceeding to the traditional bag drop counters, only to find them gone.

Even managed to make myself look like a total idiot by asking where the bag drop counters were now to be sent to the new ones right infront of me! Seems now that regardless of how you want your bags tagged, you are sent to the DIY desk.

Are the old school checkin counters still there somewhere? Definatley not down where the premium checkin used to be.

I cut it accidentally when opening the white plastic envelope. Needed my new WP card.

SWMBO received her PG package yesterday.

They should assume you’re using the printer label as old labels are taken off when you re-check-in. However, the machines must scan the tags without the intervention of baggage handlers, so that could create problems.

Perhaps the system can work out after a few days if the information on the tag says to go to XYZ but that was last week then it’s not to be trusted?

I know I am not serfty but the ribbon is still on the packaging at home and I have looked inside twice now (I broke down the other day and swapped the old card for the new card) and made sure to keep the ribbon in tact.

My NGCI tags are officially lost. ;) And no I am not buying new ones. :p

You know, some of us check in our cabin bags from time to time, for a variety of reasons. I have no intention of removing the luggage tags when taking it as cabin baggage in fear of being called a W^*$&.

I dont have the old platinum tags anyway, my first ever platinum card came with the new tags and card.

I thought that the tags are only supposed to be domestically. Also are VA even going to be able to read the tag? Do VA interline with QF? Why would the VA people ignore the VA bag tag that includes the DJ connection in favour of a QF tag that they probably can't read?

These were on bags that would never be checked in as luggage.

There's no problem putting them on carry ons that may be checked from time to time. That makes perfect sense. I just think people are funny if the put them on their LV bag, as was the situation in this case (small carry bag, not a checkable bag at all).

And QF should have stock of the old tags. I find them useful just to throw on all my luggage for ID.

cough system didn't work today in sydney, lost my seat in changing flights and changing back, seriously in under 10min.

Requuested row 4 again and was told that only 4b was available. A lie and all fixed up at the club with 4c and b free.

Someone didn't like being made to work - thnxs checkin clerk

I've attached the tags to 2 luggage bags, and I don't want to remove it when I fly other carriers, domestic or international. I just wonder, given that the process is manual, whether a baggage handler would see the tag and assume it was QF. That said, it seems that bags are going missing in the QF system, let alone other carriers.
