Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Another high alcohol (16%) Shiraz.
Same as the CR Shiraz previously posted here this one was also purchased during BWS 50% clearance.

I’ve tried few Mollydooker wines in the past and was always impressed by how smooth and long they are. Carnival of Love is no different but it does need more time to shine. I had the pleasure to drink a 2010 vintage last year and know how amazing this 2017 will be in the future. Don’t get me wrong it’s drinking nicely now but I will forget the other bottles Ive got in storage for the next 5-10 years.

How were the last Marius?
I didn’t find it as less quality as previous vintages, gray probably a bit emotional when he was tasting it.

It is a very balance wine , settle in very well with each other, only thing to say is the 14.5% alcohol which is very average nowadays in SA reds, apart from the new Callum wines, the flaxman is my pick for one main reason, it doesn’t taste like a barossa shiraz, with 11.9% alc. not jammy or overriped, more herbal than fruity, he did mention these vineyard looks similar to the Jean-Louis chave(north or south rhone?).

And as for the wine front silver score , that is still a very good score.

If you look closely, you'll spot a recently pulled cork which belonged to a bottle of 2012 St Hugo Cab Sav which had unfortunately soaked through to the seal and couldn't be saved.

You might also catch a glimpse of the eye fillet that was enjoyed with this absolute beauty of a wine which was opened after our initial false start.

Silver linings.
